Azuras Star In Use?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:01 am

So I have Azuras Star and plenty of other soul gems of each type. Sometimes, I like to SOul trap certain bosses so that I can keep them as trophies. However, sometimes (and I have reloaded and something different happens) I will cast soul trap and Azuras Star is used instead of the Grand Soul gem that I have intended. I would have fought many other battles and have capture many other souls so it seems that Azuras Star is utilized at random.

Does anyone know exactly when Azuras Star will be filled. If its a certain way I conduct battle, or cast Soul Trap, etc...
It just seems that its a random occurrence when I have other soul gems in the inventory and it will help to know when it will be used so that I can utilize it to its proper potential

Thanks

Yeah I know that, I chose the Azuras Star, not the black star. What I'm saying is that sometimes it fills and other times it doesn't. For example, I was fighting a Dragon Priest (which is an example of an enemy that I like to "trap" to keep as a trophy), casted soul trap and finished him off. When I looked at my inventory, Azuras Star had been filled (Grand Soul, it wasn't filled before the battle). I reloaded, and fought the Dragon Priest again and this time, instead of Azuras Star, a Grand Soul Gem was filled!

The only thing I did differently between the two battles was I finished off the Dragon Priest with my Sword on the first battle (which captured his soul in Azuras Star) and used magic/destruction in the second (which captured his soul in a Grand Soul Gem).
I was just wondering if there was something I did that triggers Azura's Star apposed to just the Grand Soul Gem.
It seems like "The Star" just fills at random, but I wasn't sure if that was the Case....

Sorry if this is still confusing.

Are you trying to soul trap humans?

Creatures and Animals = White Souls

Human NPC's =Black Souls

You get an option to turn Azura's Star into a reusable Black soul gem, making it easier to fill and use for enchantment.

i've no clue but:

Azuras Star is a refillable Grand Soul Gem.
so yes if u got them both in your inventory, 1 of them will be random selected becouse they got the "same power"

If u want the soul only in the star, why dont u just store all gems and keep the star with u, this way u are 100% sure that it fills up the star insted of a gem.

It's random. If you want a certain gem to be filled, you need to drop the others. Not sure if you can with Azura's Star.

I understood that Azura's would only fill if you had no other large enough empty gem. Has it filled out of order more than once?
