I'm addicted to cooking

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:58 am

I am not addicted to cooking in this game for me its alchemy. I have to pick most of everything in my path and I make lots and lots of potions like crazy.

Me too, I am an avid ingredient collector (oooh, wonder what happens when I eat a human heart?). In my new game I am just collecting ingredients and will have an all-nighter potion creating party once I buy the alchemy lab for Breezehome.

As for cooking, other than giving you things to eat that boost your healing and stuff, what are the benefits of cooking? Since it is bascially a kind of alchemy (cooking is really just chemistry) does it add to your alchemy skill? I haven't tried it yet as collecting food will add much more weight that could be allocated to ingredients...

I think they put cooking in for RP purposes

ie playing a Joe the Plumber character or a Barb who doesn't trust any Wizards Brew etc.

it would have been nice to have it a bit more powerful but Pots should always be the better choice really

How useful cooking will be depends on your build. I am usually on the lookout for ingredients for beef stew, venision stew, Elsweyr fondue and vegetable soup.

I used cooking for my main Nord character as he doesn't like magic or potions. As an RP element it's a bit flawed. I mean my hardcoe Dragon killing Nord breaks out a Cabbage Stew in the middle of a fight, yeah OK. But in seriousness cooking became an important part of his skills, in an unofficial way.

When my sister was nine I bought her "Cooking Mama" for the Nintendo DS.... just saying...

Actually, even though I have no interest in cooking, I'm still glad they put it in the game for RP purposes. But.....

Why (why why why why WHY???) can you not add POISON to a cooked item???? I'd be dropping snacks all over town.

You can also apply poison to all your weapons, drink 15 potions, and change all your armor instantaneously in the middle of a fight.

I did like cooking at first but when i realised that the recipes you start with are the only ones in the game i was disappointed :/ i did hope that you could pick up some books/notes on new recipes along the game like the potion recipes for example.

That's what I hoped for too, like you could in NV.

I like the addition of cooking to this game, even though I rarely cook.

Yes I have this compulsion to take everything I come across. I have had that compulsion since Morrowind, I have literally thousands of ingredients and hundreds of potions stored ready to use and sell. Alchemy has always been one of the funnest things for me to do in these games.
