I got dem blood on the ice blues

I had an early version of Dovahkiin Hideout that would allow you to enter homes that you did not yet own, and I accidentally entered Hjerim. Since I was there I decided to look around; I didn't know that the house had anything to do with the serial killer quest, as I hadn't gotten the quest, yet. However, when I realized the game was giving me the option to examine various items in the house, I did; this resulted in the quest starting, with my journal instructing me to follow up the clues.

Problem is, none of the quest events will trigger now: The body is in the graveyard, but there never is a crowd around to speak with; the Hall of the Dead lady never takes the body in; Jorlaith (?) won't speak to me about the case.

Does anyone know of any console commands, or anything else, that will either make this questline function correctly, our let me negate it entirely so that I can restart it properly?

Thanks.

I suspect that you are pretty much screwed. I had problemwith same quest, used command "resetquest ms11", which deleted quest from my journal, but it never re-started. I finally gave up

It's a very bugged quest. I used the console to complete it, then got mad because the killer was still loose (not killing anybody though). I tried killing the little :swear: but it didn't work. Now I feel really bad.

you might have to load a previous save. It's a lame option, but might be the only one.

This is awesome. We pay for a game that isn't working as intended. And currently no fix incoming.
Its like buying a car which has a faulty airbag and the company can't fix it....

Does the game start up? Can you complete a good 90% of the game without incident? Is it fun? Do most people who play it do so for over hundreds of hours before running into a problem?

Basically what I'm saying is: Thu'um it out your rear.

To OP: The quest is broken and no form of console commands will fix it, because there are too many variables for this said quest. You're going to have to time travel backwards (reload a save) or just give up on it.

The game is buggy but you can't point the finger at bethesda for this one, he should be more careful with using mods

@klownshewz & PoeticMadness

You are both correct; this problem is of my own doing, not Bethesda’s. I’m beyond experienced enough w/ modding TES games to know that I ought tread lightly when testing. If anything, it is a testament to how much I love this game (and being back in the TES world) that I was excited and impetuous enough to have created this problem in the first place.

Bethesda has, once again, created a fantastic game/world, and I have naught but gratitude towards them.

@to all other responders; thank you for your input, it’s appreciated.

…anyhoo; the original problem occurred far too long ago for me to reload an old save, so I guess I’ll just have to scrap this quest. I figured that this would be the ultimate result before I posted my question in the first place-this was a last resort/hope.

Disable him if he bother you.

Will that keep him from respawning? I usually disable dragon skeletons and such things, but never tried permanently disabling a NPC. I'll try it, hope it does the trick.
