Vampire-Theif-Mage Build *nooB alert*

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:53 pm

This is my first Elder Scrolls game ever, so please bear with me as I'm a full blown nooB

Question:

- Are the "conjuration-like" skills like Vampire's Servant affected by the Conjuration Perks?
- Likewise, is the Vampiric Drain skill aided by the Destruction Perks?

I'm already running into problems with the game, and I'm playing on Adept. I die about 10 times per fight....so help!

I'm focusing on:

Sneak - to steal, feed, pickpocket for items/gold
Archery - to snipe distant opponents
One handed - Dagger-in-your-back style
Alchemy - make deadly poisons
Destruction - To destroy them at medium distance
Light Armor - Self explanitory
Lockpicking - feeding stealing
Pickpocket - stealing supplies and gold

Stats / Skill / Perks:
40 Sneak - Stealth - Backstab
27 Archery
21 One-handed - Armsman
22 Alchemy
36 Destruction - Novice Destruction - Augmented Flames - Destruction Dual Casting
22 Light armor
19 Lockpicking
28 Pickpocket - Light fingers

What am I doing wrong? Everybody kills me, and I my backstabs aren't doing anything. I feel like my character doesn't do anything right. I'm using a steel dagger with +1 frost damage per hit.

You're using way to many skills, i'd say remove archery/lockpicking/pickpocket

... Also what level are you? Your dagger seems weak...

The problem wouldn't be that your vampirism is stopping your regeneration, would it?

If you have light armor and 1H but no block, you don't really want to be going toe-to-toe very often. And change that to "never" when in sunlight.

Wow archery, one handed and destruction? Talk about jack of all trades :D
If you would be willing, stop using destruction? Because its quite worthless, considering you're a sneaky character. And if im not wrong the drain health for vampires is kinda svckish, so don't bother with destruction perks buffing that up. (i heard that the drain health was lousy)
And dying 10 times per fight, that would probably be the problem with your light armor. You're focusing on too many skills. So either you go for the smithing enchanting tactic, or you focus on a few skills only (like one handed and light armor and sneak?)

Lvl 9, and yes my dagger is useless at this point. I have to rely on my dual fire spell to survive

Vampiric Drain is NOT affected by your destruction skill, its affected by how bloodstarved you are, and even at the highest level (3-4 days) the vampiric drain is still almost useless.

ditch destruction, thats why you're getting owned so hard. 3 skills for dealing damage?...2 is the practical maximum, and i even think 2 is a waste.

I'm actually starting to figure out how to play with my build now. It turns out to be all about tactics. Agains a mage, i use Heal in one hand, and fire in the other. I take the health down as much as I can then go in with a one-handed attack. One my magicka recharges I continue the cycle.

Its a serious pain in the ass though. almost every battle is a challenge for me
