Names of lakes

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:07 am

What are the names of all the lakes? My map does not show any names and one cannot just ask any NPC what the name of the lake nearby is. The book "The Adventurer's Guide to Skyrim" tells of just one lake. What other in-game sources are there?

No, I will not repeat after you! *lol* I know I can always use one of the wikis, but it is cheating to me. Wikis are full of spoilers, no fun in there. The game really should be a bit more helpful when it sends one to a lake. I am the dragonborn and I have no clue which lake it is nor can I ask any NPC! Smells a little bit like a failed game design somehow when our hero cannot tell a lake from a puddle. :swear:

You say this on a forum called "Skyrim Cheats, Hints and Spoilers?"

Wiki is full of awesome and win. And most major spoilers are tagged as such at uesp.

As to "one of the wikis" ..... Uesp.net is by far the most thorough.

If you mean those pond marker things on the map, there's Clearspring Tarn, Mara's Eye Pond and a couple of others I can't remember.
p.s. i'm a source

Yes, the wikis are indeed full of win, which is exactly my point... I only want to play a pretty game and enjoy as much of the immersion as possible. Using a wiki or reading every comment in the spoiler'n'cheats forum is too much win for me and just gets me of track.

I had hoped to get an answer that would tell me how one can find the names of the lakes by playing the game, and thus slap me in my face for not playing it right. Right now do I believe that it is just a bad game design and one can either guess or visit a wiki.

Anyhow, thanks for the comments!

All the lakes and rivers are named on the fold-out paper map that comes with the disc.

The one by Riften is Lake Honrich.
The one by Ivarstead is Lake Geir.
Lake Ilinalta is the big one by Falkreath.
And Lake Yorgrim the icy upstream from Windhelm.

Like many people, I bought my game on Steam and don't have either a disk or a paper map.
