DB Quest Question - Spoilers

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:22 pm

I am at the point where I killed the
Spoiler
real emperor
and have returned to the new hideout & told to furnish the new hideout using the proceeds of my feat.

I've sought the guy out who sells the furnishings but although I've purchased three upgrades from him, I still get the quest open that I need to see him and buy more. Do I need to spend my entire loot on this or is there something specific to buy? I don't wish to buy a 'torture chamber' for example.

The other aspect of where I am is for me to visit the NM to communicate with her. I've gotten 2 or 3 1,200 gold quests to croak this or that guy. Does this mean the end of new and interesting DB quests? I seem to be where I was in Companions when the only assignments I'd get was to kill this or that animal.

If this is the end of the DB quest line, OK but I expected a bit more zip, rather than it just petering out like this.

The DB questline never ends. once you finish buying all upgrades (19,000 ), the quest ends and you can do the Radiant Quest handed from the Night Mother. Sad thing is that the Radiant Quest are side quests not Miscellaneous quest, and always renew when you finish it.

OK, thanks. I guess then it's like Companions & I'm at the point where the interesting quests have ended.

If you mean the quest to buy stuff from Delvin stays open in your journal--you have to go back to him and ask to buy upgrades. When he tells you he doesn't have anything else the quest is completed. (At least that's what just happened to me with the latest patch.)

Just wondering, did you lie about how much money you got for the last quest or own up to the whole 20k?

The last official contract's reward is $20000 gold.

the torture chamber is funny you should try it.
you can still do quest by the night mother and nazir.
if you have done a cople for nazir he will give you a special one.

Does joining or doing the dark brotherhood quests affect anything else in the game?

Nope. You aren't considered evil or anything.

Nope. I told the truth about the 20k.

Well, maybe but I have a real issue with the Thieves and DB elements. My RP is to be a chaotic good character which is obviously impossible if I play either faction but if I don't, then I lose the best elements of the game too. IMO, Thieves and DB quest lines are enormously more interesting and complex than 'good' factions such as Companions or Mage although in both this and OB, Companions / Fighter is tainted.

So I"m doing both quests out of them being interested but am skittish about torture chambers and the killing of defenseless NPC's. I don't remember the very early TES games forcing you to either be evil or skip the best sections.

Nazir has a couple of contracts where you kill NPCs who are involved with other quests, but other than that, nope. Not even the final quest has any effect, which is kind of annoying.
Spoiler
If I kill the Emperor I want someone to at least say something about it.

Remember in order to complete the quest "http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Where_You_Hang_Your_Enemy%27s_Head..." you have to buy all the furniture from Delvin..all the available for sale...once you buy it all the quest will be completed.
