It's um...Raining men

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 10:03 am

Seriously. I was running down the road from Markarth ( or somewhere therabouts ) , and I heard a loud thump and saw an Imperial Soldier hit the ground about 20-30 yds in front of me. So I looked up to see wtf it came from and I saw another falling out of the sky and land a bit further down the road.

I have seen alot of weird things in this game, but falling soldiers is just bizzare.

Guess they havent invented parachutes in Tamriel yet...

Heh. That happens sometimes. Usually you'll see three Imperials or three Stormcloaks, and a prisoner. I laugh every time I see it, even though it happens at least once a game session. Boy, the FIRST time it happened though.... I was literally ducking - I yelped, and husband predictably asked what was the problem etc. And have you EVER tried to explain game physics to a non-gamer non-computer-using spouse? If not.... well, I don't recommend it as light entertainment....

I've had the same problem with Hagravens and people in their underwear. Must be a wild party going on some where.

Near Markarth, you say? That happened to me just yesterday... Then a dragon flew into view. I know it's just a coincidence but it was funny, nonetheless.

I do find it very entertaining. The faces my wife makes are classic(she doesn't think I'm watching). The way her eyes roll at every bit of terminology that she doesn't comprehend is amusing. You'd think she would stop asking. Been doing it weekly since we got married 7 years ago(many, many games).

The falling guy thing: I was near a giant versus bandit fight and watched 3 different guys launched into the stratosphere. I had one land about 2 game days later on the other side of Skyrim. Found what I think is the second about a minute later off to the left. No thud sound for her so I had to assume she hit first. When I get offed buy a giant I see the Skyrim map. I beleive this is where those falling bodies come from.

Yeah its probably due to them having run in to a giant and not a weird physics thing. The entire game world is continuing to go about it business whether you're there to witness it or not so battles happen all the time!

In Falkreath, the Noble on the Horse and the Guard past through, then one version of them took to the sky and went west. I walked to where they had levitated from and found a second version of the three dead on the road, just dead.

I do not know what that was about.

That one is new to me. Where abouts did it happen? If you live near Yosemite National Park it might be time to move, an eruption can be devistating to your health, and mammoths launched from under the ground can't be helping it much either.

It was near Whiterun. I believe what happened was that the mammoth spawned in at the wrong place as far as height, and then fell. But it was quite a shocker. It's either that, or another dragonborn was over there fus-ing things about!

That's actually a fairly well know incident that's been happening since launch, if I'm not mistaken. This has happened to me at least once. I always attribute it to being dropped by a dragon.

I saw Lydia drop from the sky today. Turned around and saw it was because she decided to fight with a giant while I wasn't looking. She seemed just fine after the incident, though. Got back up and proceeded to kill the thing. It was hilarious. (Especially once I joined in and the giant caught on fire.)

In all my hours of playtime I haven't seen flying men. Damn giants. If I want to see it, I gotta go frenzy some giants and [censored]... or let them hit me.

well, sometimes dragons do pick up people or monsters and launch them while flying.

Yes, the Mammoth glitch was actually the first glitch I ever heard about. Personally, I've seen it three times with three characters. I've never not seen it with a character and I've never seen it more than once with the same character.

@ OP: Lucky you. Unfortunately, it's only been raining hagravens, mammoths, horses, nobles on horses, falmer and spiders with me. Especially those falmer are a pest; it always happens when I'm clearing some of their homes, they fall down behind me, they manage to get out of it unscathed, and they ALWAYS detect me (since they appear behind me). Not really advantageous for a sneaky character like mine.

It happens sometimes. I just saw a kid drop out of the sky in Markarth. They are immortal so falls don't hurt them and I guess its fun for them to leap off tall buildings.

Basically it happens when some "actor" falls through the floor because of a collision bug with the terrain.. They continue to fall down until reach the Z cell boundary and then they're reset in the middle of it.

It's those pesky Icarian Flight scrolls again! This must be why the mages stopped selling jumping spells; too many people (and mammoths) just can't handle them safely.

I watched a giant fight a sabrecat not long ago, way off in the distance. Then I watched the cat go zoom! and disappear into the clouds. A couple seconds later it almost landed on top of me. I think that giant was trying to hit me with it.
