how i fixed it: dumped all my items in a metal box, exited, reopened box, picked up all items, re-assigned to d-pad buttons, fixed

my game was freezing and needing hard reset whenever i attempted to choose a weapon using the d-pad, or assign a weapon using R2 when in pipboy, or when entering vats

I have no idea why this worked. I emptied all of my items, then picked them up, and i got to play for a good 30 minutes before freezing again. even left the game on for over 30minutes after it froze in hopes of it un-freezing itself. Didn't work though. Thanks for the tip, your fix gave me some help... until the game svcked again...
