Not sure if this has been discovered yet but I found it out today.

Get married to an NPC who opens a store and gives you money daily (I chose Ysolda). Then use the wait feature and set it to 24 hours, as soon as you press the A button, press the Xbox guide button on your control pad. This will make the 24 hours go really fast (9 seconds) as opposed to the rather slow speed (31 seconds). Repeat this as many times as you want, you get 100 gold for each time you do this. To collect your gold just speak to your wife/husband and ask 'Has the store made any money?', you will then receive all the stacked gold.

With this method you can make 600 gold per minute (more or less).

Could PC owners confirm/deny if this works using the steam overlay instead of the Xbox guide button, and the same for PS3 users with their console equivalent, thanks.

Or you could just take a dark brotherhood or thief guild mission and make twice that in nearly the same time. Or you could spend 15 minutes making daggers and enchanting them, making even more money. Or you could spend five minutes with alchemy and make a ton more than even that. Seems like your method is a rather dreadful way to grind relatively little cash.

Good catch, though, for speeding up the wait timer!

Meh, i'd rather just sell things. Easy enough to get money on this game anyway.

I have almost 2 million with normal dungeon-diving, on top of my marriage-store profits.

Alchemy is the biggest money making scam in this game. I have 450K gold right now, mostly through alchemy. When you start to discover all the uses for every ingredient, its hard to make a potion that is worth less than 400 gold. The hardest part is you have so much money's worth, its hard to sell it all.
