The War of the First Council "quest item" : V

Anyone else have this happen? I don't even know where I got the darn book, and the wiki doesn't show it as related to any quest, but I can't drop it - get the "Quest Items cannot be removed from your Inventory" statement - and obviously it doesn't show up to be sold at a merchant.

I'll just remove it if it's really not related to a quest....

hm, I haven't heard anything like that before, neither the bug nor the book. Where did you find it, I might see if I get this bug

I don't know now - it was a couple days ago, probably, I've been a LOT of places.... it *might* have been in Mara's Eye Den. But it might not.... This is the first time I've seen it in any of my games. There's an entry for it in the book section on uesp, but doesn't say anything about it being associated with a quest. It's not one of the books you need to get for Urag during the College questline. I suppose it could be one of his radiant quest items, maybe?

There are a ton of books you can be sent to fetch as part of a radiant quest. Does an entry show up in your miscellaneous list?

No.... in fact, I have no active quests on this toon. She's a "no MQ, no civwar" toon, mostly just wandering around doing bandit extermination etc. I got that nice mod that tells you if a dungeon is quest related, and except for things like The White Phial and Yngol's Barrow, I pretty much have been avoiding any of the dungeons that have associated quests. I've not so far on this toon had a "fetch the book" quest at all....

I suppose I'll just leave it for now, and if it bugs me too much down the road, I'll console-remove it. Then if I DO need it I can always console it back. *shrug*

Seems to be a fetch book quest for the Mages' College: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fetch_me_that_Book!

Also,

If you find the book before activating the quest, you will be stuck with it. The quest will point to the chest, and the book won't be there, and can't be returned. Once this has happened, you will be stuck with any additional copies you pick up as well, even if you activate the quest before getting a second copy. On the PC this can be set manually via console commands setstage MGR20 20 or setstage MGR20B 20.

Ah. I did wonder if that might be it, but couldn't find a page for anything but the College one, Hitting the Books. Well, it's highly unlikely I'll be doing the college on this toon so I'll just console remove it. Thanks guys, 'specially Doggiedog!
