why am i so conflicted? granted, i feel the game is remarkably well-crafted, and the hard work and painstaking detail are far too obvious to ignore, but when i hear some of the adulation and words of praise like "masterpiece" i tend to hesitate. i've spent a good amount of time playing skyrim, so obviously i find the experience appealing enough that i'd be willing to spend as much time as i do with the game, but in the end skyrim is just an impressive piece of technology. i don't think any videogame is truly capable of providing any amount of fulfillment in a person's life, no matter how long you spend with the game. games are more about stimulation than enjoyment , so i guess i reserve certain adjectives for things that actually dig into my life a bit deeper. perhaps this is where most of my contention with skyrim originates, not sure. maybe it's just fatigue, but i thought i'd share and get some other thoughts on the subject.
