Investment perk and shop stock

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 8:14 am

When I go to alchemy shops and invest 500 gold, the NPC's say they'll increase their stock of items and double their orders for more. But the stock never seems to change, at least with ingredients. So is it bugged or is the investment perk only just supposed to increase total sum of gold and the increase in stock is just a meaningless in game remark?

No investing 500 gold is meaningless at alchemy shops. Invest it at Lucan, the Riverwood trader. He gets 10,750 gold every 48 hours.

Is this a "feature" or is it supposed to work like that? (I have not used the investment perks)

No developer has said anything on it and it was here since release so either it's a massive over sight or it's intended.

I invested with Lucan already, he's great. But I wanted more alchemy ingredients so I wanted to see if investing in alch shops changed anything.

How do you go from a shop that has around 750 gold then invest 500 gold and come up with 10,750 gold?
Maybe the perk is bugged,I haven't got that far in speach.

From skyrim wiki:

Using the Investor Perk to invest 500 gold in his shop will cause him to have 10,000 total gold; the game engine adds twenty instances of the perk.

It almost sounds like a bug but then it could be intended. Lucan is technically the first trader you meet in the game so maybe it's a lesser known bonus.

All I do know is it's handy 'cause I have tons of junk to always sell.

Wow. I've never got that far in the speech tree. Obviously I have been missing something.

If it isn't patched by now it is probably going to be another feature.

Well- that alone makes a good argument for those on the fence about investing in the perks necessary for this. It is a pretty powerful and convienient effect.

My guess is that it was a bug that was intentionally left in. It's not game breaking since it's only at one place, and you have to put quite a few perks into speech to obtain it.

I would personally rather not even take speech perks, but that's just me.

I reluctantly invested in that perk, but only put 1 of 5 in the first Speech perk. That's it for me. I then took my 500g to Lucan, and opened the trade window. I think I already had a surplus with him, because he suddenly had over 11,000 gold.
