Chaotic Save Games

Hi there,

Ever since Daggerfall I've been an Elder Scrolls fan. Five scrolls telling a prophecy and each game so far depicted one of those scrolls. With Skyrim it is a great end to the prophecy and can't wait what series you guys come up with next. But throughout all those games one aspect has been neglected greatly. So much that it is very annoying. I know that the game has lenghty content taking you 100's of hours to wade through. And most likely a lot of people won't even create more then one character. But what about those people that do create multiple characters?

As with each game in the Elder Scrolls series the save games are a pain. All saves get thrown in a big pile for you to scroll through. Sometimes taking 10-15mins to find that one save game of that one character I'd like to play when logging in. Is it really too much to ask that a system similar to Dragon Age or Mass Effect and the likes is used? Simply having all save games stored in a different folder per character made? It would make life so much easier to have this little feature organizing the saves. And believe me... The Elder Scrolls requires many saves besides the Auto-saving feature. Often I find myself eventually having almost 100 save games to plough through before being able to find the one for that specific character I'm looking for.

In short. Please find a way to organize the save games per character instead of having it all in 1 big chaotic list.

Ditto. The best save game feature to date is Dragon Age series where the saves are broken up by each of your characters.

I have four characters, I have one save file for each character, plus the three autos that get overwritten by the game. Not a problem keeping them organised.

I'm not surprised it takes you fifteen minutes to find your save file if you have a hundred of the things.

You might regrett having only one save file per character...

I use three saves per character and overwrite them cyclically.

I'm someone who uses the max amount of saves in every game. In a lot of RPG's there is a limit of 5 to about 12. Then I cycle as well. However The Elder Scrolls series never had a limit. Nor should they since it isn't a lineair game. But the way save games are handles, whether you have 3 or 300 saves, should be more streamlined.

Just because there are so many options open to your character in Skyrim, doesn't mean you have to do them all with one. I have one game save per character. If I make a choice I later regret, I make a note of it and make sure I make a different choice with my next playthrough.

I'm sorry, but the chaotic game saves are your own fault

Only one is needed really, sure I might run into a bugged quest, but surely I can just do that mission when the game gets patched. Pus I have four characters so I'll get the mission done on one of the four.

I think he means save game corruption, if you only have one save and it get's corrupted your char is done.

I personally keep a backup of my savegames on a different drive, and when i switch chars I simply move the appropriate saves into skyrims save folder. There are programs that will automate this for you, but I prefer doing it by hand.

Im supposing you're on a console? Why can't you delete saves? o.o like have 3 saves for the character you don;t wanna play (at the bottom of the pile), and your current playing character would be the other saves.
