My god. I have found him . Today i have been watching the lord of the rings part 3. And since skyrim i looked at the movie completley different. It al looks like skyrim . the armor the different factions the ruins ,That big stone city looks like markath. In the middel there is even something that looks like a shrine thing. And the smal towns compleet with longhous and jarl..
Really the movie looks like a clone of skyrim. And there he was. the last dwarf. gimli Even his helmet looks like it is taken from the film. ( Have to check that tomorrow. Amazing. Anyone else think the same. Have you noticed it.......

It's no secret Whiterun resembles the Horsemasters of Rohan a lot. Personally, I love it.

Every modern Role playing fantasy game is inspired by Tolkien one way or another.. but as said dwarves in TES = Elves similar in size of wood elves.

As for settings in Skyrim I can relate almost every area to Lord of the rings one way or another Black reach for example is Moria.

The reason the towns look like LOTR is because Tolkien used the same Nordic influences as Bethedsa.

No because Gimli is a LOTR dwarf. Short as a stump and about as wide.

Dwarves or (dwemer) in TES are elves. Besides mostly being depicted with beards they are the same size and build as their other elven cousins though phsyically stronger and technologically advanced rather than magical (as you can tell from their armor and contraptions)

http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/tdgtd_dwemer_yagrum.jpg vs http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f0/Gimli_With_Axe.jpg

I fail to see the resemblance...

Sure there are some slight similarities to some things, as is unescapeable as they're both fantasy worlds, but apart from Whiterun/Edoras there isn't anything but slight superficial resemblances.

But who knows what happened to Tel Fyr after Red Mountain erupted? Just saying.

LOTR is a rip-off from nordic folk tales. 95% of all fantasy worlds created after the 1950s are a rip-off from LOTR. There have never been any short, beer-loving, axe-wielding dwarves in Tamriel. Gimli is not the last dwarf and he doesn't resemble Yagrum Bagarn at all.

I fail to see the point of this thread.
