Should Bethesda add or make a DLC two player world...?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:36 pm

If bethesda was to make a whole new world just for two players, would you like the idea? some ideas they could do is by making some more perks for it and lots of new quest's, new armor, weapons, characters, towns/citys, new enemy's, new creatures, caves, and tons more. So if you think this idea is a good one. plzz just comment and tell me wat u think or if you have any ideas??

It would be great. But they can't do it they would have to change all the gameplay to do that.

Where does the dragonborn idea fit into all of it? Sure, it's easy to make a mechanic for two dragonborn.. but the story should matter when it comes to official DLC packs.

Are you meaning a "two-player quasi-MMO"? I wouldn't be interested personally, but I imagine many would be - if the issues as kur and Korr posted could be worked out.

i can understand about both of the problems, but i dont think the gameplay would be changed a lot other than small changes and with two dragonborns they could make a sequence to the original game like a witch curse's the dragonborn and his personality splits into two and more on...... i just think there is a way to make it all work because if u can have companions then they should make a two player set with new dragons and everything else i said before...

No. This game's mechanics was built around a single player experience, adding another player without completly redesigning game mechanics would break the game altogether.

I would love a Co-Op (not MMO) version/game/expansion, but, yeah, what others have mentioned would make it difficult and non-sensical.

That being said and agreed upon:
Fable II's Co-Op worked like this: when you joined someone else's game you were a "Henchman". You had all of your abilities (ranged, melee, and magic 'perks') and a generic weapon that actually had the 'enchants' (called Augments in Fable) that you had put on them, but you weren't the "Hero" in someone else's game (ie you couldn't interact with NPCs in exactly the same ways as the host).

As I just said in the identical thread that just appeared in the Skyrim Genreal forum, I wouldn't buy it.

The problem is, there are probably enough folks like me who wouldn't buy the thing that making it wouldn't wouldn't be profitable for Bethesda. They will most likely be on safer ground, economically, making a standard Elder Scrolls single-player DLC.

Yeah, and without 'hard zoning' (loading screens while manually traveling between zones/cells in the wilderness) the lag would probably be unbearable and cause crashes.

Another reason it won't happen- not only is the gameplay not designed for it, but neither is the game engine. Skyrim simply wasn't built for multiplayer, and it would take a complete rebuild to enable such a thing- something I seriously doubt they'll do just for a DLC.

No no no... no. As the above mentioned, Skyrim is not built for multi-player.

I dislike the Idea of any multiplayer in any Bethesda games (as they are the last maker of quality SINGLEPLAYER ONLY game now that bioware is adding online portions).

sure people post wants and ideas for online or co-op gameplay all the time, but lets look at the facts, each of the posters of said ideas rarely have more then 10 posts. that is why i believe it is the same guy (or same small grp of people) making new acccounts to make it seem like it is a "major want of the community) although the real community does not want multiplayer.

In the end, any form of multiplayer would ruin the elderscrolls series, its just not that kind of game.

No way, and wouldn't be possible with Skyrim (besides the obvious technical changes, there's the most obvious problem who would the Dragonborn be?). Maybe in a future game, but personally I'd rather have that in a separate, stand-alone game and not in the next TES sequel.

The game engine wouldn't allow it; it was intended from the beginning to be single player. There is a separate studio that is working on something multiplayer; hopefully they will release information on their project at some point.

If you want to discuss multiplayer or co-op, use this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1320106-official-tes-multiplayerco-op-thread/
