Barbas must die!

Now you know why Clavicus Vile got rid of him in the first place...

Save yourself a LOT of hassle, and dismiss him. He's not needed until the very end, when he will miracurously show back up.

I think barbas is designed to be annoying. ...

I think so too. To make the decision of killing him at the end of the quest more plausible. If he were more lovable it might be more difficult to take the "kill him" option.

...Another thing I don`t like about Barbas is that he breaks the `fourth wall`. I said to him, "A talking dog?"

And he goes "a world of talking cats, etc and you`re surprised by a talking dog?"

That`s blowing the immersion because wlaking talking cats are the norm, unless this dog is from Earth, he shouldn`t have said that. His accent is annoying too....

I was surprised by that too. And it kind of bothers me. Only Mai'q should say things like that, in my opinion.

No... I liked him very much. Acting like a real untrained dog. For some kind of dogs it's common to push. My Labrador pedigree pushes my other dog to go where I asked it to go. Sometimes she pushes me too. It's in her blood acting like that. That's why they are used for keeping the sheeps together. Bethesda has done a good job with the dogs. They act like they were real.

Yes I still have Meeko with me.

He's not untrained though, He is deadra who takes the form of a dog. So he should behave best of them all. None of the dogs are untrained. Meeko had a owner, I presume Vigilance is trained, never got him, only the dogs you meet, which I have never done, so far, might be untrained.
And Meeko is nowere near as bad as Barbas.

It's just bad dog and follower ai. Especially bad for Barbas.
Dogmeat in Fallout 3 and Rex in Fallout New Vegas have bad ai too.
Dogmeat is worse. He stands across doors and pushes you. Rex is better, but he still blocks doors and and narrow passages and walkways sometimes.
At least they're not annoying.

After I first did the quest and I got the helmet, I got images of Clavicus Vile having to kick Barbas out of doorways and being pushed into things, and thought, he is going to have barely any peace, lol.

Actually, the game glitched on me and when I enter the final lair of Vile's Shrine, Barbas and all the Boss Level Vampires were stuck behind that Cage-door-thingy that opens after pulling a lever... I talked to Vile instead of opening it and Barbas ended up killing them all. I was level 81 at the time so had those high level Ancient Vampires and Master Vampires.
