Buggy quests

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 5:53 am

Good lord, I just finished A Cornered Rat and Alduin's Wall by hook, crook, Skyrim Wikis, console commands and just plain doing it over and over until I got it. I do hope that The Throat of the World isn't as buggy. Is it?

I did the entire questline once. I never had a bug with it. It all worked just fine.

Esbern wouldn't talk, kept stopping. Delphine didn't seem to realize Esbern was there. Esbern and Delphine kept stopping in Karthspire. Esbern never said a word.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time with it. I didn't have any issues at all. (Other than being functionally unable to get through the 3 gates thing as posted otherwhere.... but that's not a game issue - that's just me....)

I haven't run into many other bugs, maybe it was just my turn. Anyway, I'm grateful for Skyrim Wikis and console commands.

Oh yes! Every once in a while I stop to think about where I would be WITHOUT the wiki.... ugh.

Damn it, I'm about to start that series on my 2nd character - I guess they weren't fixed in the 1.4 patch? :o

I fortunately had no issues on my 1st character.

I guess they didn't fix it yet, I'm sure I have all the patches. Maybe you'll be lucky with this character too.

I hope so - I'll have to save feverishly just in case.

Lucked out with Blood on the Ice on both so maybe I'll be OK. I even did a bunch of no-no's on my 2nd character that should've broken Blood on the Ice. :o

this is how I play the game now.

everytime i discover a new location, i will read up in the wiki (2 wikis), purposely to check the bug section, if ok, i proceed venture into it, if not skip it for later.

I went through fourteen characters totalling in over 400 hours, and I've never run into a problem in the Main Quest, and I've only had five or six quest breaking bugs pop up throughout my time playing <.< I really want to know what everyone does to break their games so badly xDDDD

The only bug I ran into on the MQ was getting Esbern to follow me from Riften to Riverwood. Fixed this by fast-travelling which I typically don't do. Otherwise, had no problem with the MQ at all and haven't had too many problems with bugs in general.

Unfortunate sequence of events I guess. The only really bad one I've experienced was the Totems of Hircine when I was sent to Haemar's Shame, but I reloaded, went back to Aela later and was sent to a different location.

Speaking of buggy quests...there's a daedric quest and the Alteration Ritual Spell quest that require you to go to the High Gate Ruins. And if your like me and have already been there before you started these quests, then the gates at the end wont open.

I was like you once than I got hit by every quest bug in the game :banghead:

Some of which were imposible to fix with the console commands

Esbern really needs his own debug thread, every other thing about him is bugged.

" a cornered rat " still will not start after completing " diplomatic immunity " . my dude is level 81, thieves guild master, and still brynjolf will not talk and lead me to esbern. even going straight to esbern doesnt help, he just doesnt open the door.
am i missing something? or will this be fixed in the next patch? -

The part where you are to fight Alduin at TTOTW can be pretty buggy as well.
When I tried, Alduin wouldn't take damage AND he totally ignored Dragonrend. So, I had to reload a few times

Wouldn't for me either. Barreled my way through with TLC and advice from the Skyrim Wikis.
