Fastest way to train 2 handed with one-handed focus characte

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 8:55 am

Is there a faster, better way to train your 2 handed skill if you're a one-handed user with absolutely no perks in 2 handed, outside of just using a 2 handed weapon and dealing with the much, much lower damage output?

The Ebony Blade's damage is derived from the One Handed skill rather than Two-Handed, but it levels up Two-Handed when you use it.

I tried the ebony blade out but the problem with it is you can't upgrade it at a grindstone, so a Daedric battleaxe/Daedric warhammer (which you can upgrade) totally destroy it for damage, even with all my one-handed perks.

Unless you want to cheat, using the skill or paying a trainer to level it are the only ways to level up skills....

I gave you an alternative, which you said you didn't want to use, so I suggested going back to your default option. Unless you want to cheat, I don't know what else to tell you.

I know the headsman's axe works just the same as the ebony blade, but no one has said if it can be upgraded. And what about the formula for damage and one-handed gear vs 2 handed gear with 2 handed weapons effected by one handed perks?

Not asking about how to train the skill without using it, asking how to train it up quicker when I'll be doing approx. 125% less damage per hit and thus making it much more slower to raise.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way. I don't think you don't get more exp from an item just because you do more damage with it. I really think the amount of exp you get has a lot more to do with the level of the skill that you're using than the amount of damage you do.

I think the only skill that really works this way is lockpicking. The harder the lock the faster you'll level up.

If you're really worried about it, just gather some gold and train the skill up a few levels..

From what I can tell, your skills grow based on base damage, and isn't increased by perks or enchantments.

The Ebony Blade can only be improved by killing people considered your friends, i.e. followers, people you've helped, etc.

And like the other posters have said, if you aren't happy with the alternative methods... then I don't know what to say.

Those two Argonians in Lights Out also qualify, and you can use thrall spells or the Ritual Stone to keep using them to power up the blade.

That's like asking if you can train heavy armor by only using light armor

If you are on PC, you can download the CK and create a one-handed weapon and set it so that you level up two-handed in its base. I'm assuming you're not on PC though, so you can either use trainers or you're s.o.l.

signed up just to post this but if u use the fortify restoration glitch on your amulet of talos you can get shouts without the wait time and you can then use the elemental fury shout to speed up your dps and make training waaaaay faster!

also the ebony blade does not improve damage when you kill your friends just health absorption

Finally someone with something meaningful to add. I do know the restoration glitch and currently have my talos amulet boosted with it, never thought about the elemental fury thing though. I will definitely do that. And thanks for clarification on the ebony blade.

Check merchants for rings or necklaces that boost two hand damage.

What I like to do when I'm training a skill that isn't going to use any perks is either buy items with % more damage on them, or enchant my own. Its not as great as my primary skills, but the damage is more than enough. Don't know if that might be an option for you.

If you are stormcloak go to an imperial camp and kill them all then skillup on the leader. Since he wont die you can keep on hitting him as long as you like. Or vice verse. I prefer this to hitting your horse. It feels less of an exploit because at least he fights back. Plus hitting horses is mean.
