Helgen: Anyone wish there was more to this?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:08 pm

Thinking about it and playing Oblivion I really wish they had actually allowed place to be rebuilt slowly and you this hold would become very important. I don't know, another idea that some of the towns, not the capitals could be destroyed by dragons, then gradually rebuilt. That just an idea, but Helgen I wish there was more to it.

Bump, surely I'm not the only one who feels Helgen should have had more use?

Maybe there should be a questline. It would feel weird if I did not go to western skyrim again for 6 months, and then visit helgan to see it a busling town, it would feel like the game forgot what happened in the tutorial. Maybe once you become thane of Falkreath, there hsould be some quest to clear the bandits out and rebulid it.

Do I sense a mod idea?

You're idea about rebuilding Helgen has a lot of potential and many wish for quests to rebuild Winterhold too. Building Cropsford really made me feel like this would be a good idea or helping to build Cropsford.

Did you go back later in the game? Someone's trying to rebuild it.

Whoops, I meant rebuilding Helgen, I don't know just feels strange no quests asking to rebuild place, or no further quests from there.

Sorry, confusion due my fast typing, meant building Cropsford from Oblivion inspired this idea, as time progresses you see the settlement slowly rebuilt, so why not the case of rebuilding Helgen so people can live there again? I like ya idea about Jarl of Fawkreath though.

Hopefully in DLC we can rebuild Helgan or Winterhold.

The only use I have for it is a place to be harassed by bandits and on my way when I travel.

There is a mod where Helgen is rebuild.

But I think it would be nice to see Helgen slowly being rebuilt over time, rather than getting a mod where it is suddenly repaired.

I actually started a thread about this back when Skyrim was announced, I was hoping for something like "Kvatch Rebuilt" from Bethesda :ermm:

This I agree with. And think it should happen.

Yes that's what I meant. They're doing a pretty good job of renovating the tunnels.

I imagine the decline of Falkreath and Helgen's demise are a reflection of the fact that Skyrim lost a lot of population in the Great War and civil war, and it takes a good deal of coin and building resources to remake a whole village. More realistic for it to stay in ruins really.

After you end the civil war perhaps, a choice to clear the bandits out and allow people to move back in.

Yeah, I'd like to see towns rebuilt and villages possibly even grow over time. I'd even be willing to spend my own money to make it happen.

I think it's weird that Haming doesn't even recognize you later in Froki's shack.

Worse yet, he's a little punk. Why the hell does Bethesda feel need to write so many assh0le characters? lol. Even kids. You'd think this kid would be a bit traumatized. When I was 7 years old, I saw a murder. I was a pretty shaken up. This kid saw his whole town go down in flames, his parents killed, and by a [censored] giant black dragon. And he's a punk.

Not seen this, but yeh that sounds like a hole, what about the idea of Helgen being slowly rebuilt and for it's own quests?

I suppose that happens sometimes, but.. it would've been cooler if they put more thought into it. Maybe a moment when Haming asks you outside and drops his act (maybe he was doing it to be tough around his gramps). It'd be cool if part of the "rebuilding process", he might ask to go back to Helgen and find something to help remember his parents by. That would be better writing. I could see that happening in a episode of Hercules and Xena or something. lol

Maybe there will be healing/repair in an expansion (like people have mentioned).
