Come on Betheda! Heal others!?!?!?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:30 pm

So I'm the arch mage who specializes in restoration magic along with conjuration and destruction. Since joining up with the stormcloakshttp://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g322/Raidensama/Skyrim/TESV2012-03-0522-24-33-13.jpg I decided to use my heal other magic, and nothing happen. Come on Bethesda I can't find any use for this magic other than for war purposes only. I have no followers since I heavily depend on my conjuration sills to summon Atronachs or Dremora Lord.

It would be nice to not only go out into the battle field, but also help the wounded in nearby camp sites, this includes temples as well (Look at the temple in whiterun).

Totally agree. I tried this on the sick in the temple at Whiterun to no effect. Other than healing a follower it doesn't appear to have any other use. Maybe Colette is correct :stare: . In shooters, I like the medic role. Doesn't work so well in Skyrim (at least on console).

I never play healer types, but it does seem rather shortsighted not to have viable options for this.

Not necessarily -- if it really bothers you, consider that your followers and other injured NPCs are never hurt to the point of immobilization and hospitalization like the soldiers. And consider that the priests in Whiterun continually cast healing spells on the wounded, and there's no perceptible improvement.

The civil war quest line really could have used some fleshing out like this. It's kind of lazy the way they did it, with the two factions basically a mirror of each other and all the quests pretty much "capture this fort."

Think of those injure and sick as suffering from broken bones or ruptured kidney what provides a "Drain Health" effect that last for months, something your Heal Others cannot cure.

Yeah, it's pretty lame that we can't actually do anything for them. I still use the spell on them anyways to RP it. I did notice that when the Whiterun acolyte heals, they give a response saying the pain is lessened, but that seems to be the extent of it.

Not only that but there's an altar to kynareth right there. If they could just reach over and touch it they'd be cured of all ills and injuries.

I thought altars only cured diseases, don't they have normal wounds?

The only time Heal Other works on a civilian for me is when that band of hunters in Falkreath go missing and you heal the guy outside the cave.

sorry about that spoiler
but this is a spoiler board

And you have no problem either.

Think of it like this:

You cannot heal a corpse. What is dead stays dead.
How can you there heal a lost arm or a dead leg?

Maybe the wounded are in the tents for a good reason and because they cannot get healed?

I use healing spells on my follower, on soldiers, town folk, on my horse and on other horses.

And there are quests where you are being asked for healing potions, but you can use healing spells instead, too.

There were quests in Morrowind where NPCs would ask you to cure them of Diseases and such. This one butt naked Nord had been cursed with a Disease that caused constant Paralysis by a witch. I took that Disease, and used the console to give it to every single one of them damn Cliffracers, lol. As soon as they spawned, they'd drop out of the sky and thump down on the ground without even so much as a single screech.

Reminds me of a guy at the entrance of some cave whose friends had gone in and were killed by bears within. He asks for a healing potion, which you can give him before he asks you to go in and do a Lara Croft on them. I didn't try it because it never crossed my mind but I wonder if healing him with spells would of worked as well.

Yeah, I tried healing people at the temple of Kynareth too. I guess its more of the "just adding some flavor to the game." Like how there's musical instruments, but you cant play them.

Its like in Throne of Bhaal, when Saradush is under siege. Guy is "killed" by a catapult shot, but you can cast a Resurrect spell on him tto bring back to life. But then, half the time as he walks away, in comes another catapult shot and kills him again, this time for good.

There is ONE bloke, sitting outside Moss Mother Cavern (I think), groaning and moaning. If you talk to him he tells you he's in a bad way and he asks for help. You can give him potions or, if you have a heal-other spell, heal him right up.

There you go! :ermm:

Oooo...thanks for the tip. I am very stingy with my healing potions, but I have plenty of Magicka to spare.
