Fortify Carryweight Items

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:34 pm

Doe's anyone know where I can find some items that I can pick up and disenchant that have the Fortify Carryweight enchantment? I wanna add it to my Daedric Armor so I don't have to wear my Thieves Guild armor anymore.

You can also find the "revelers" as a random encounter on the road. If you're carrying 2 bottles of mead they'll give you a necklace with the Fortify Carry Weight enchantment. Other than that you just have to keep checking the shops or find it in random loot.

You should keep in mind the enchantment only works on certain items and I don't think chest armor is one of them. The Thieves guild armor is unique in that regard.

Oh alright, I feared that I wouldn't be able to put it on the armor. Oh well, I will just keep looking anyways. Thanks for the help.

To the best of my knowledge you can only put it on rings, necklaces, gauntlets, and boots. There's other options too.
"The Steed" guardian stone will give you a nice carry weight buff, and there's a perk in the lockpicking tree ("Extra Pockets") that will give you another +100.
You can craft Fortify Carry Weight potions, but those are only temporary.

Usually if I'm having a problem with encumbrance I restrict myself to a weight/value ratio. This means leaving a ton of stuff behind, but the stuff I fill my inventory with sells for more gold per unit of weight.

I'm actually using the Steed Stone currently haha and my carry weight is at 560 at the moment. I might just have to get that lockpicking perk, but considering I have 117k gold right now and nothing to spend it on I might just stop picking up so much stuff and selling it since I can't have the armor I want and carry weight at the same time.

At least my Heavy Armor weighs nothing, that's good.

Yeah, I think you'll find skipping some loot paradoxically makes everything feel faster. I don't pick up anything unless the value is around 5x the weight. I don't pick up iron anything. I rarely pick up steel (except daggers which I enchant). I always pick up booze, potions, gems, hides, and enchanted gear.

Same with me, I never pick up Iron or Steel. Everything else you listed though I do pick up except the booze and hides.

Booze is actually great to pick up. Alto Wine is in the neighborhood of 12x value to weight. The named meads like Blackbriar is even better. Though you'll probably never fill your inventory up with this stuff. Wolf pelts are about 6x value to weight and that's the bottom tier. Snowy Sabrecats are (iirc) 36x. Even fox pelts are valuable. Pelt value is one of the main reasons I walk so much when beginning a character. Not only does hunting give you an opportunity to level up your offense, the pelts help the pocketbook nicely.

If its all about the money though, you could go the enchanting route. With the banish+turn double enchant with petty soul-gems, you could clean out every vendor in town each trip after only looting daggers.

In all of my playthroughs, Sinderions Shack has always had a set of leather boots with this enchant.

I eventually got to the point where I didn't pick up anything that was worth less than 100 per lb (or had a direct use as an item or in crafting I wanted to do).

The I realized I had no need for money any more, so now I only pick up stuff I plan to use. Its a big time saver, but I still end up loaded down.

if it's heavy armor weighing you down then be sure to get the conditioning perk in the heavy armor tree that negates the weight of equipped heavy armor

There also a mod called http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3413 that lets you summon a Dwemer spiderbot that you can use to store stuff. After 60 seconds, it disappears, but you can summon it again anywhere else later on (as long as you're not in combat).

What I've done is enchant a Necklace and a Ring both with Fortify Stamina and Fortify Carry Weight and I just put them on at the end of dungeons when I need them...usu Nord crypts because the Draugr have started carrying Ebony stuff. :P

Yep, i found the "Midas Chest" spell in Oblivion absolutely essential. Only way i could haul off even half of the crap i wanted in a dungeon. I also kept a "Bag of Holding" on me for stuff that i used quite often (Or stuff i wanted to whip out in a fight, couldn't cast "Midas Chest" in combat), and didn't want to weigh myself down with, but didn't want to have to scroll through a crapton of loot in my Midas Chest to get to. Most loot went into the Midas Chest. Most weapons/armor i switched between, alchemy equipment, soul gems and repair hammers went into the Bag of Holding.

I do the same. I learned in earlier TES games to watch the ratio of Weight/Value to lessen my burden. I miss my "Feather" spells..........

That would be handy for picking up scales and bones, too. I ended up with a bunch of those stashed in the Arch Mages quarters, with no forge in site. Had to dump 100 lbs of potions and such to haul the bones and scales to Whiterun so I could actually use the "Dragonbone Weapon" mod I downloaded...
Of course, when you HAVE 100 lbs of potions to dump, its time to clean house anyhow. Now I'm down to under 250 lbs equipment, and don't miss all that crap one bit.

weight is always a consideration for my character at the start.

she only wears light armor and carries 3 weapons max.

she will wear heavy armor and use 2hded weapons when they are loot.

she will dump extra stuff in chests and corpses and return later.

:o Wow, that's 200, right. I think they all weigh 0.5 whatevers. I don't have the game on right now, but IIRC my items give +37 Stamina and +40 whatevers carrying weight each when I had 100 Enchanting skill.
