Killing a dragon priest (potential spoiler)

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:55 pm

I killed my first Dragon Priest like two days ago
I used mostly the Fireball spell and ebony sword (or whatever its called)
Also i used lots of healing potions!

One question. How many DPs are in Skyrim??

Eight.

Dragonpriests, like all enemies really, can be beaten by infinitely staggering them take a heap of Fortify and Restore Stamina, Shield Bash, Power Attack, Shield Bash...

If you're a Mage you can do the same with the Impact perk and as an archer you can perk your shots to stagger, too.

I'll never forget the first time I encountered a dragon priest....Krosis I think it was. I was out exploring and stumbled upon an outdoor word wall. After nearly dying defeating the dragon there, without saving, I ran towards the wall to get the word. At the last second, I noticed the sarcophagus and as he floated up out of it, I knew I was screwed. I was instantly blasted with fire, my rag doll of a body tumbling down the side of the mountain. Probably one of my favorite moments in Skyrim so far.

I will second that...EPIC!!!!

8 named ones i think and several not named ones who you will encounter only when you are high lvl
they all pretty hard if you are low lvl and some of them especially krosis is always hard since he is pretty fast and he always tries to move away from you , all others you can pin down against a wall or somethjing well atleast that is how my warrior characters kill them

pffft! you had it easy....... Me and Lydia was sneakin' around takin' dis shortcut that brought us to this place called Shearpoint, ya see and I sees this woid wall wid dis dragon on top and says "Hey, ders dis dragon and it's sleepin'. What ya say you stay right here, an I sneaks around and gets a suprise on it?" Lydia says "I got a bad feelin about dis." So as I got to da wall and was ready to hit da dragon this casket pops open, the dragon flaps around, and then dis cave bear attacks. We survived but it wasn't easy. I was level 15.

I fought Morokei last night. At first I was firing arrows, jumping between levels, dodging behind columns. And I noticed he was being rather unagressive, and wasnt searching too hard for me. So I show myself. Nothing happens. I walk up to him and draw my Ebony Sword/Glass Dagger combo. Nothing. I start swinging away at him. Still nothing. He only cast a couple of spells the whole fight.

Was he in the water below where he starts? I had one fight where I was running away and he followed me into the water and all of a sudden became very passive - just stood there and let me whack him. I assumed it was due to the water but maybe not. Anyway, it's definitely an AI problem.

You have to be careful with this though because I believe Dragon Priests can take control of your summons. I ran into Krosis I believe on my Conjurer and he kept taking over my flame atronach

I tried arrows and magic and the only way I can kill them is to wack them with my blade.

I found the best way is not to give them a chance. When you're at that spot where they are, rush them and hit 'em before they fully get out of their resting place with the most damaging blade you've got. And if they do get out, Fus Ro Dah, then rush in.

I have a sneak archer character and this is advantageous for the Dragon Priests in dungeons. As you enter their lair, they will not notice you. I get a major hit by arrow (poisoned, multiplier damage, often critical) and then just re-shoot. I have five or six masks now, the last three were simple two shots from the darkness.

Better to wipe the Dragon Priests out, they seem rather nasty characters.

Krosis was difficult, open terrain, burst out just after a dragon fight, shimmies around faster than I can keep up, big spells. Lydia put her big hammer in his face. Thanks for coming Krosis.

I found that I have better luck if I don't try to fight them from range. If I take an invisibility potion and get in close, I do some real damage and the dragon priest can't get off shots with the staff he's carrying. With Morokei, you really do find everything you need to beat him as you're going through the ruin. The weapons dropped by other enemies can be the one that does it. You don't want it to be too easy or it won't feel epic though. :) Good luck! :tes:

My level 15 Nord sword and shield warrior is having a very, VERY hard time with Krosis. He is in full Dwemer gear, all smithed to "Superior". His Dwemer sword doesn't seem to be dealing any damage to Krosis at all, only taking like 1 pixel away from Krosis' life bar per hit.

Perhaps it's not time ot face Krosis yet...

Conjuration against a Dragon Priest can become rather unfortunate, I must say :)

Today I killed Volsung, but I didn't walk through the entire dungeon, I just, as I was exploring, butt-jumped the mountain below Volsungs wall and suddenly I managed to reach the top where the word was. I read the word and he arose, so I shouted for my Valor and defeated Volsung - again, without even entering the dungeon.
Quite nice :)

Don't use conjured daedra against Morokei...you'll kick your own butt - and I speak from experience. He uses the Command Daedra spell. :tes:

There is a reason you get the Staff of Jyrik Gauldurson during that questline. It is really the best weapon against Morokei (besides the one he is carrying). It can be used rapid fire and will drain his mana very quickly.

Tell me about it. Now add in the dragon and a cave bear. I went through ALL of my heal potions. All of my regen potions. All of my resist fire potions. Died. Reload. This time I aggroed Krosis, and then positioned the dragon between myself and Krosis so Krosis would be attacked by the dragon and the bear helped against Krosis, too. Dead dragon. Now Krosis and the bear. Bear dead. Run around and around and around. Used shock on him as often as I could which did nothing but it did stun briefly, then charge in with shield and sword (elven and skyforge steel) and beat crap out of him. Then he starts fireballing again. Potion. Potion. Run Run Run. Shock. Run. Now he attacks Lydia. Drop into sneak and move behind for a backstab. paralyze poison on sword. beat crap out of him. run away. repeat until he's dead. And then you're nearly dead. And now a wolf attacks. Fun times fun times.

As a level 1 archmage on Master difficulty, I basically distract him using a Staff of Storm Atronach crafted in Colleage of Winterhold and poke him with arrows when I get the chance.

Generally speaking I don't encounter them unless I happen to be well prepared enough. I mostly just rush in and melee him down.

My lower level mage however, was forced to encounter Morokei as part of the mission. Impact helped stagger him a bit, but when my mana ran out he was still around 2/3rds. He popped up his Ward after that, but that didn't help him much as I rushed in with the Dawnbreaker, finishing him off well enough.

Level 1? How? Surely you're forced to kill -some- things through the questline, which should have leveled you up a -little-....
