Right Eye of the Falmer - WTF? (TG Spoiler)

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:37 pm

Should Delvin buy/take the Right Eye from me and put it on the shelf in the Cistern?

I'm done with the TG main questline (finishing up the Small Jobs to get to 125 now), but I've never gotten the option from Delvin.

I don't get why he didn't take them both, aside from there not being enough room on the shelves once you start stocking them with trophies.

"Wow, look at them beautiful huge diamonds! They're worth more than most thieves make in a year!"

"Oh....I only want the left one. Yeah, it's completely identical to the right......but....uhhh...I'm left handed? Maybe?"

One is for shelf, one is for you to sell to other merchants.
Or put it on some of your own shelves. Up to you.

I think it's rather stupid that he didn't take both. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this either.

OK then. I'll display it somewhere. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't experienced a bug...yeah, they exist.

Thanks, y'all.

He won't take the Left Eye from me, or the Right Eye for that matter.

How exactly are you supposed to go about it? This has been what I've done and it results in the Left Eye of the Falmer not even registering as a Larceny Target:

Steal the Bee Statue in the first mission
Give the Bee Statue to Delvin
Steal the Decanter in the second mission
Give the Decanter to Delvin
Steal the Map in the third mission
Give the Map to Delvin
Steal the Ship in the fourth mission
Steal the Dwemer Puzzle Box in the fifth mission
Give the Ship and Puzzle Box to Delvin
Steal the Statue of Grey Fox from the house
Give the Statue to Delvin
Do the Falmer mission and get the Eyes, with no option to give the Left Eye to Delvin.

I'm sure you have, but have you ever spoken to him when you have no other jobs open? He didn't take it from me at first either because I was doing a bunch of other jobs/quests in succession. Eventually one of the times I talked to him I got the dialogue option.

There's also a bug where the last larceny item doesn't complete correctly. From UESP:

"It does not matter what order you pick up the items, after picking up the final item the quest will be marked as complete and you will be no longer able to turn any of the items still in your inventory to Delvin Mallory."

This was what happened to me on the only toon I ran through the TG questline. I didn't care, but it certainly might be an issue for some folks.

Can't say I've run into the bug myself, but that's only because I've never bothered to get all of the larceny items
First time I did the TG line was my first character, and I avoided the forums/UESP as much as possible so it was still a surprise. The only larceny target I picked up was the Eye of the Falmer. I thought about picking up the Bust of the Grey Fox, but didn't for some reason I can't remember now. Thankfully I'm not a 100% completionist type player for the minor quests.

He wont take the Left Eye if you have already turned in everything else that is possible. I've noticed this.

At the moment seems to be you'll always be left with one. No clue if this is on a bug-fix list or not.

I think i read that you have to turn in the dwemer cube last, or he'll stop buying the items.

I always just sell the eye Delvin does not take. It did strike me as odd that only one of the set has any real meaning for him. But you can supposedly steal the left eye off the shelf and sell that over again for a double profit.

Well, maybe he's got confused with the left eye of the falmer and the left hand of god or something.... Only time I did the questline, I just parked the eyes (I wound up with both because it was the last Larceny objective *shrug*) on a table in my house. Nice.
