Is there any difficulty in the DB contracts?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:26 pm

I'm talking about the contracts you get after you have beaten the main questline. Every one I have I got is, go to the person giving the contract, kill this civilian. It's gotten pretty boring considering none of them have wanted me to kill a more challenging target.

Since the NPCs are leveling up along with you, I imagine they could be pretty tough if you don't take them by surprise. Some of the contracts are in very public areas, so you should have excellent Sneak skills by this time.

I like to finish the Thieves Guild quests first, to level up Sneak and Illusion (for Quiet Casting and Invisibility) before doing any DB quests.

Basically, the fact that they are in public is about the most difficult part.

Ya but then what, you wait until they go into their house, break in then kill them...routine is pretty boring for me, maybe am I supposed to kill them as soon as I see them?

I don't think they have houses because they are spawned just for the quest (Dark Brotherhood Forever, right?). I guess some may stay in the inns, but in the few I've done so far they pretty much do their pathing all day and all night.

Some people get creative in the way they assassinate people to keep it interesting.

Well keep in mind this is after you completed the main contracts. You know.....and now I'm getting contracts from the Night mother, but they all feel the same.

Yeah, The Dark Brotherhood Forever. There are like 10 clients and 10 targets and they randomly switch up their pairings. They are not named NPCs and are generated just for the quests. I don't think the targets sleep - I've done about 5 or 6 so far and they either keep standing in the same place or keep following their programmed path. :P

Oh so what the main focus is to try to kill this person, without being seen?

I try to do that in all my contracts, but I think that's main challenge. It's more of a RP thing because there are no real consequences if you get caught/seen - you just pay the fine or talk your way out and all is fine. (I'm not whining about it because I don't like to bash the system like so many - I'm just explaining why I have to RP that portion. :P)

I'm hoping there will be more storyline DB stuff in an expansion or expansions.

Yes, you are now The Listener, the ONE person receiving instructions from the Night Mother herself.
And you are also The Speaker, responsible for making the contact and negotiating the contract.
But then you are also expected to be the designated executioner. Wait, what?

Way to go, Bethesda, completely screwing up the organization of the Dark Brotherhood, after having us
work to reestablish it in the first place.

I see it as the DB being in a transitional phase - hopefully it will be expanded upon in an expansion.

When an NPC talks to you while you enter a doorway into another cell (building), there's about a 90% chance the NPC will enter it with you!

Yes. I actually have to wait until that $*** Braith in Whiterun is done talking before I enter Breezehome. I usu have to avoid her when I approach the house. Thanks, Bethesda, for making the Dragonborn fear children.

What's even worse.... if you don't let Adrianne finish her convo stuff before you go into the shop.... Ulfberth will then have the same stuff and money SHE does. *SIGH* Which is why I usually try to remember to go into the shop FIRST.

Actually I was referring to the use of that tactic as venue for assassination.

Yes, this is a problem too. Less so on my chick because she has the Fences, but if people don't do the TG it can be a real problem. <_<

Yes! We need the "castle doctrine" implemented in Skyrim. :D
