I have that glitch where she'll always have her hunter bow equipped even if I give her a better bow and the fact that she has no hunter bow in her inventory, but manages to hide it from me somehow. And I can't pick pocket it, since I already took the hunter bow out of her inventory. I'm just sick of her using that mediocre bow when I have so many other bows waiting for her, so I'm thinking about two solutions that might work.

I was wondering if it's possible to disarm her bow using the disarm shout, but she's too powerful for my first disarm shout, so I'm hoping when I find the third disarm shout, it'll be strong enough to knock her bow off her hands.

My second solution would be to stick a hunter bow in her inventory, then try to pick pocket it back.

You guys think these solutions will work?

Nope. I've never gotten her to use a decent bow. I don't think the mechanics allow for it xbox wise.I'm sure a mod could fix it.

i just give her really nice swords to play with and keep the archery for myself.

You could try in the Hardware or Spoiler forums.

I found that if you equip them with the bow you want them to use then remove their weapon they will equip the bow that you gave them, then just give em back their weapon and it seems that the bow that you gave em seems to pin to their inventory and they use it 90% of the time, but I have yet to try Aela only Kharjo and two out of the three students from the collage.

Lydia uses the bow I give her. Wonder if this is only an issue with companions that are primarily Archers.

I always thought this was a problem that was exclusive to Aela.

I'm sure on the UESP it says any follower with a default bow will always use the default bow. Not sure where it was so sorry no link.
