Dual wield vs dagger assassin?

What is better for sneak attacks, a powerful dagger and the assassin's blade perk, or dual wielded daggers or even swords?

Dagger with the assassin's blade perk, but why not have two daggers and assassin's blade?

Ha, this was my first thought when I saw the topic. ^^ But I'm not only thinking it, I actually dual-wield daggers with the assassins blade perk and it works like a charm. :D

I sneak attack killed a steam centurion with a dual-wielded dagger power attack. Three power attack hits each with x30 damage (thanks to assassin's gear and assassin's blade perk). Not much can survive that.

^This! And I don't think it's overpowered. Since I play on the second highest difficulty, there are many enemies who can quite easily kill me, if I'm not careful. . So I need to be careful. Sneak-gameplay is fun.

Ok, I should have asked this better. So, that means the assassin's blade does apply to both dual wielded daggers?

Honestly, I don't like daggers. I just can't fathom the idea of killing a dragon with a little knife. From pure mechanic point of view, their reach is pathetic so I always use bigger weapons, even if I play as an assassin. The perk in Sneak tree gives you x 6 when attacking with one handed weapons. This, plus certain pair of gloves, a good power attack and well smithed sword equals one shot death for anything bar dragons, even on Master Difficulty. For dagger specific perk, you have to take another two perks and put up with it's poor reach as I said before. Not worth it for me, but majority of the people like it.

I think so. To be sure just keep your best dagger in the right hand and strike with the right dagger first. Which is the defaul attack anyway. ;)

Its not the size of your weapon that matters, its how you use it, also those who tend to use large weapons are well compensating for something it is often said :P

There is a difference in weapon reach though; warhammers have over two times the range of daggers, for example.

OT: Dual-wielding daggers is the best option for Assassins. If you do the Dark Brotherhood questline, you can get your hands on two Blades of Woe (pm me or something for more details if needed), which are arguably the best daggers in the game. Two of those, plus Shrouded Handwraps (an item that doubles sneak damage) and some good Smithing and Enchanting allow for one-hit KOs on anything but the strongest of opponents (higher level dragons are basically the only things that can take a hit).

Hahahah mate I know, it is just that I can't imagine how could such a tiny weapon penetrate...a dragon's skull.

I enjoy dagger sneak gameplay combined with alchemy but no smithing or enchanting though seems like cheating to me besides some of the poisoms you can make more than make up for the damage loss from not useing enchanting and no smithing so it makes you feel amazing when you happen upon a sweet upgrade

And even that's overkill. Unenchanted, unpoisoned steel daggers can take down giants if you're undetected and have the assassin's blade perk.

The advantage of daggers over other weapons is that they're silent to swing. Other weapons do make noise even if you're just hitting air.
