Fully Cached Question.

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:25 pm

If I play other games, I stand to lose some of the cached information that Skyrim set up on my HDD. I'm playing off the disc, as I haven't installed the game yet. However, I might want to play Halo from time to time. If the cache gets messed up, would my Xbox reload what was lost? Is the save file sufficient to maintain excellent graphics and stability? I will install when they fix the installation texture problem.

Also, I'm gaming on 1.00 until I can hook up my xbox to the internet. If I cleared my system cache, would I ruin textures? Would switching out games very often ruin how Skyrim plays, since Skyrim heavily uses the Xbox 360 cache?
Thanks.

bump.

I now have up to 9.8 GB of my HDD as free space. Should I game off the disc and hope it remains fully cached, or if I install the game, would the space reserved for caching decrease?

Also, whether installed or not, does playing other games that mess with Skyrim's cached data irreparably ruin Skyrim gameplay when I return to Skyrim?

I don't think I understand your concern about the cache clearing somehow screwing up the game. All games on the 360 re-cache every time you start up the game after playing something else. That's how it's always worked, it's not a one-time thing.

Hope this helps, sorry if I didn't answer your question :P

Not to be rude, but I don't think you completely understand how cache works...

Edit: ill put it like this,..don't worry about your cache... you are not going to mess Skyrim or any other game.

Edit Edit: forgot about something...... If you plan on clearing your cache at any point on the system, doing so will remove all of your games auto-updates. Now, if the update say,.. added something.. and then you load the game.. it will tell you that some things may be missing. Even then.. very slim chance this will "ruin" your game. This is also only when you enter in the code to clear the cache on the 360. (people used to do this all the time back in the day so they did not have to get the update that fixed the item duplication glitch in Oblivion lol)

Thanks. I don't think I'll need to clear the cache, and if I do, I'll be sure to update my Skyrim to the newes patch before I begin again.

On a related note, I could clear the cache and still play my save files right now. I haven't connected to the internet since I bought hte game and am playing just fine so far on version 1.00
