Only old Nightwish. Their newest stuff is more pop music than opera metal what it used to be.

Not a fan of Power Metal. Sludge and Doom Metal, on the other hand...

Get some Electric Wizard blaring through your speakers, friend.

with Nightwish's big booming symphonies in their older songs it would be quite awesome

This. Maybe Elvenpath and the like. Not the stuff with Anette.Tarja had the epicness in her.

Absolutely, "Newwish" wouldn't fit at all.

I know Symphonic Metal is a sub genre of Power Metal, but the idea of considering Nightwish a Power Metal seems, so wrong.

Well, at least I'm not the only one here who likes Nightwish <.< (Though I also like their newer stuff which i know a lot of the purists hate)

Usually though I hate Jeremy Soule... he's not bad, but he's not good. But somehow he totally got Skyrim's soundtrack dead on; though I can't help but feel some of the ambient music sounds a lot like a fallout 3 so maybe he took notes from inon Zur (Which did a great job on Fo3) - but the barbarian choir was inspired ;p

From the snippets I've heard, the new Nightwish album sounds pretty kick ass.

Didn't love Dark Passion Play but that had more to do with uninspired songwriting than Annette. When the songs were great (Poet and The Pendulum, The Islander), I didn't miss Tarja at all.

I'll make my final judgement when I here the entire new album.
