More gold

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 1:36 pm

I need to know how i can get more gold. I always have not enough money if i need to buy something or pay for training.

Plus, isn't there a sort of a walktrough or guide. I contantly feel like a headless chicken in this game, not knowing what to do.

I'm sorry, i'm used to play first person shooters... Maybe this game isn't for me afterall. :banghead:

Just play the game, exploring and such. Loot all the stuff you find and sell it, quite simple really. Am I the only one who didn't use Alchemy to make money?

Huh?!?

No, I haven't exclusively done it, but I have a little. Generally I have too much stuff to sell and would have to do nothing but wait several days, and/or go on trips to all the major cities loaded with stuff to sell in order to get rid of it all. One cabinet is so full of stuff that it takes forever to utilize. (My character is 57th level.) I am to the point now, that if it doesn't have a use in Alchemy or another skill or is just a cool piece of magic, I don't pick it up if it doesn't have a pound/worth ration of 1:25+. (And I generally run around with about 175 lbs of gear and can carry 410 lbs. and have a follower for even more carrying capacity.)

All I can say to the OP is: Loot, Loot, LOOT! Eventually you get to the point where you don't have to anymore.

No you are not. I make money by selling loot, and taking gold of dead bodies. Most of my money has come from dead bodies since I have not sold much loot. Current gold count 130,000.00.

You can sell stuff in any shop. Of course your choices of items you want to sell are limited to the store (ex: potions to a general store/alchemist shop).

When you go into the talk menu with a merchant you have an option "what have you got for sale" or something to that effect. Choose this option. This will take you to another menu. Now you will scroll down in this menu to your inventory. If you have anything in your inventory that the merchant will by it will show (ex: weapon, potions). Select which a category and pick which of your items you wish to sell to the merchant.

Scroll down through the shopkeepers stuff (potions, misc, etc) until you see your character name and tabs below that. Go into those tabs and select the items from your inventory you wish to sell.

Loot, craft (improve the items at a workbench or grindstone) and sell. Repeat.

Alchemy, especially at higher levels, is a treasure trove.

Look for an Amulet of Zenithar or other item that makes prices better and keep it to put on when you go to sell. Over time it makes a difference.

Craft your own stuff. It's better than anything you can buy anyway.

Crouch, make sure the line in the center is flat (i.e. that you're Hidden), then steal everything that isn't nailed down. You'll need a fence to sell stolen items to, so join the Thieves' Guild in Riften if you go this route. Otherwise just steal gold and items you can use in crafting.

Leveling goes pretty fast, so why are you trying to buy training? I only use that if I'm a point or two away from a perk I want, or at higher levels where the rate starts to slow down.

The only thing I could add is that sometimes (rarely) the dialog of "what have you got for sale" doesn't appear. In those cases, you need to talk to them about something else first. Then, you may have to exit the dialog and then immediately go back and talk to them. It should appear then.

Shopkeeper's hours are typically 8am-8pm, but do vary. You need to talk to them while they're working.

Everything above the line when you are in a shop keeper's menu are things you can buy from them, everything below the line are items you have that you can sell to the shop keeper. The higher your speech skill the better prices you get on both ends. Shopkeeps have limited gold in which to sell things to you, but they get more after a day or two.

You can also only sell items to them if the shop they own is related to the item you want to sell. I.E. only potions/ingredients at potions shops, weapons at smiths, etc. The only exception are Kajiiet Caravans, and General Traders, which will buy anything.

It's actually depressingly easy to get money in Skyrim, especially since there are no "ultra high value" items you can ever buy that are worth saving up for - the only things that are genuninly expensive are potions. Enchanted armors/weapons are more expensive, yes, but you'll never see anything cost more than 2000 gold really. Kind of a shame. It was nice coming up to a vendor in Morrowind and such, noticing they have some sweet armor set for sale at a nice 5000-8000 gold price. Now the only things that cost a lot of gold and are worht a lot are the houses, and scrolls for some reason.

Dont know what to do? Talk to every one! Get quests going, and help people out! Wander around the world picking flowers.

Steal a horse. Find a magic book a learn a new spell. Go to any dungeon and kill off the bandits and take every thing.

The thing with this game is you can do what ever you want to do. Have fun!

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Alchemy is the fastest way for me.

Loot gear out of dungeons, store the gear and weapons you find I find you make more on weapons if you enchant then sell them.

Same for me.

I really don't get how people don't have enough money in this game - what are they buying? I rarely craft anything, so I don't sell that - I just pick up gold in dungeons, and sell my loot. I'm rolling in cash. Usually am in games.
