To the people who power leveled smithingenchantingalchemy..

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:42 pm

Okay first off Im not her to bash you for doing it I would just like to give a thread reponse to the complaint that the game is too easy because of the easy access to power leveling smithing and enchanting, as well as the ability to put alchemy in there to make yourself god like...

Rant Explaining where I am coming from :
Just a little background info on where Im coming from.
First character, 2H heavy armor mainly. The perfect character to power level, correct? Well I didnt put I did level the two as I went through the game, completing the main guilds and questlines to get a feel for the game (first TES game, tried oblivion, thought fallout 3 was so much better I didnt bother)
So I played throughout most of the game with a possibiliy of death, until I hit about level 35 when I upgraded my Ebony and now Im pretty much unkillable. 60 hours+ before getting to god-mode seems fair to me as I assume we're all playing more than one character.

Now after some Dead is Dead fails I finally started not svcking and got a sneak archer working. After I finished the Theives Guild and Companions I was annoyed with how weak my character was. During the Companions questline the dumb followers took me out of sneak and I repeatedly almost died. I decided to try the power leveling because Im actually "Done" with the character (or I thought I was).

After a while of power leveling smithing/enchanting I have ridiculous armor and weapons that make me stronger than my first character. So I could see why this exploitation would annoy people.
Rant Over

But My main point is...
It took me a GOOD while to do this. Running from place to place, getting the necessary equipment and everything. I also ha to make the ACTIVE choice in doing this. My first character I didn't "accidently" break it, as in most games like TES (fallout...any RPG ever) the story usually has something to do with you ending up IN god-mode.

So I wuld just like to ASK:
How long did it take you to break the game? Even though you say its boring now, how many hours did you waste getting to that point?
How did you break it unless you KNEW you were going to? Its hard to acidently break the game this way, and why did you choose to do so. Especially if you knew you wouldnt like the game after this? Pretty much any video game can be broken in a way like this, thats the difference between them and real life.

Again Im not looking to be a "OMG SKYRIM BEST GAME EVERZZZZ" and start anything, as I have my own complaints (PS3 LOL!) but I really want to know how this is a complaint for people.

I maxed Alchemy and Enchanting by playing pretty much normally (i.e., "normal" means exploring the world and not doing much of any quests except bounties until I had developed my character... I believe in being prepared first and play for development and exploration). They maxed out about level 30 or so. Time? I don't know, but that was my third character and I have over 300 hours in the game. I don't find it boring, really.

Now, Master level... that is boring because of the way Beth and other companies implement "difficulty" (which is not actual difficulty, of course).

Your post didn't deserve its own thread because you're bringing nothing new to the discussion and you're being really hostile anyway. So yeah. Good thread idea...

Bolded=different story so I gotcha there.
And you dont find it boring so Im not really talking about you, I want to discuss it with the people who did it on purpose and now dislike the fact that it is easy.
Doesnt sound like you exploited everything, just instead you "focused" on those two skills, I would imagine it took a while...which is one of my points.

Im being hostile? Okay...didnt want it to sound that way.
And I cant make my own thread when every subject gets about 1,000 threads?

People power levelled Alchemy?

What a waste, Alchemy is worthless for anything outside RP imho.

I did the same thing I did in Oblivion, get Oghma book... rinse lather repeat.

Game's much funner without all the unnecessary grinding, but to each their own.

Next time when you want to reply to a topic use reply instead of making your own thread. That way you have a context and dont get accused of making a strawman argument. No one complained about the game being too easy because they power leveled crafting.

I just want to know why its a problem
Is it because its too easy to exploit?/takes too little time
Is it because there shouldnt be any exploits?
Should there be god weapons that should be able to be found that do 2000 damage so you cant create the best weapon?

Oh, usually these threads end up with a flame fest of "it's in the game, so I have to use it" or "I shouldn't have to gimp myself to enjoy the game".

To be honest, you become a god eventualy in this game reguardless of what you are using.

Funny, I have seen tons of threads about it.
