Can't believe to describe

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 4:10 am

I loved Oblivion which I picked up shortly after release and Skyrim the day before release but from now on I'll wait until the GOTY version is released (it will happen on the next release). Why should we pay full whack for a game that isn't finished? 1.5 screams of something that was originally meant to be in the game but due to the greed of getting the game out before christmas was left out to be concluded nevertheless for free at later date.

SIMPLE I don't want to plough hours into an unfinished game paying top whack when I could simply wait for 6 months to actually play the finished version of the game at less then half the price.

Unfortunately, I'm about feeling like this myself and I haven't even had any game-breaking bugs. :o This is only my 2nd Bethesda game (Fallout 3 GOTY was my first), but, yeah, I'm about where you are. :(

I know myself well enough that if I ever encountered a game-breaker not only would I walk away from the game forever (and probably smash the disc), but I would never buy another game from that company ever again and since I don't want to do this I may get only GOTY editions from Bethesda in the future.

You say that now, but I would bet that you will still be one of the first people in line at the midnight madness release sale.

Good luck with that, I'll be enjoying the game now.
I'd rather enjoy a great game now, watch it evolve through DLC and have fun while it's still new.
No reason to miss out for nothing.

So they're supporting their game in very cool ways and you're holding that against them.

Whatever bro. Just, whatever.

My two pennies:

1) Pulling content you can't make work correctly to meet shipping dates and then reinserting at later date, working, and for free - no problem (possibly ranged/magic Kill Cams)

2) Pulling content to use as paid for DLC - slimey (Latest ME3 fiasco)

3) Pulling content to later expand idea for DLC - no problem (FNV Ullysis/Lonsome Road ideas)

4) Releasing a game with a known problem that "you felt" not enough players would run into - really slimey (PS3 Lag Issue)

5) Adding any content free - always good (provided introduced bugs don't kill game)

6) Asking Unreasonable prices for DLC that provides little extra playability - always bad (F3 Broken Steel, Horse Armor)

7) Not providing the same DLC across all platforms of main game - very questionable business practice (Oblivion DLC, although this seems to have ended as a general practice)

8) Letting a company pay you to hold up DLC release to favor their console - pretty lame and "prosttutey" (Viable business idea, but alienates fans everytime it's done)

9) Releasing CK that lets a "fan" (Kivan) fix bugs in main game better and faster than your company can - really nice (makes you look bad though)

10) Advertising alot of cool features and then not delivering them on Release Day - Becomes a Lie (Bar Brawls, Go Anywhere - Do Anything [Really can break game easily])

To be honest, I wasn't going to buy Skyrim until the GOTY came out myself. I was going to wait until all the DLC was out, the patches had been finalized, the Unofficial patch had matured, and the price had gone down. Plus, there would be a bunch of well realized mods ready. But, my wife bought me the game for Christmas and I sure as hell wasn't going to leave it in the wrapper or ask her to return it.

I'm a really.... "laid back" gamer - I guess. I never get games on release day, but when I do get them, I load them up and enjoy. Of course, it helps that I almost never have bugs. And THAT is the honest to goddess truth. Some of that "buglessness" is because I read so extensively BEFORE a game hits release. Some of it's luck.... I'm probably the only person in the world who played Descent to Undermountain completely through WITHOUT patching - because I didn't have any issues with it at all (unlike every OTHER person who ever played it apparently....)

There's no way I'd not buy a TES title until the GotY came out. I can see how those of you on consoles would feel that way though.

Who, ME?

That's unpossible!

I'm not a foamer, this is only the second game I've bought since... December 2008. I played that one up until I got Skyrim last December. I, too, look into what's required and what should be changed, tweaked or avoided, and generally that helps. :read:

I'm still enjoying Skyrim, even though I've done nearly everything I can that can be done at least once. I'm keeping interest alive by slowly working on my little lake chalet (usually for an hour or two or until the CK folds up and dies, lol) and now I'm forcing myself to play a pure caster character. The caster approach is quite different and I often have to choose from among my meager talents before doing something. :mage:

And to the OP, what does the release date have to do with the price of tea in China? I mean, does Skyrim cost less now, four months later? When you install it, it updates automatically. That game I bought in 2008? The disk was a coaster right out of the box. Updates and patches are a way of life.

I've never bought a game on release date.
Wait a month or 2, price drops, 1st patch is out, common problems/bugs are well-known.
