Poor M'aiq!

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:55 am

Just saw M'aiq have a near-death experience for the first time.

F-t to Saarthal to go to Mt. Anthor, saw M'aiq standing in the snow.
Giant starts trudging down from Mt. Anthor direction, I go hide, can only see M'aiq who is in its path.
Hear giant coming closer and closer, then it sends M'aiq flying!!
I waited for giant to trudge back up toward Mt. Anthor, then I went over to M'aiq face down in the snow, motionless.
I know he's essential but I healed him anyway----it was instinct!----then he stumbled up and talked about everybody being beautiful to M'aiq.

Now here's a character whom we all have some emotion invested in! Why didn't Bethesda make the plot revolve around M'aiq? They would've won multiple awards for excellence in story telling, I'm sure.

I've met him only one during a random Blood Dragon attack.
he was sort of far away. I ran up to him because he was some other Khajiit, and so that how I've met him..
I want to meet him again but I'm not sure where to find him.. so umm.... can you tell me where he usually goes or somethin??

I wish they let him say more than just 3 lines per encounter. I love the voice acting for Khajiits and Karliah. How foreign they sound, and how they are more likly to refer to you as 'This one'. Karliah, she could be threating to gruesomly murder me, and I would just listen and enjoy her voice. Also, if you read a couple books in Nightengale Hall, titled 'The Nightingales vol. 1' and 'The Nightingales vol. 2' (worth 500 gold each) you learn that she is actually Queen Barenziah's granddaughter.

He just stood and was in a bad mood, so..
I shot him in the head with an arrow, and he went straight down..

You've got it the wrong way around. People love him because he's a recurring character who we are NOT forced to interact with as a core plot element. Nothing would ruin him faster than over-exposure in a leading plot role - it would be Jar-Jar all over again.

I think you took my post a bit too seriously. And by that I mean you took it way too seriously.

I like M'aiq, but I see him too often as a random encounter on the road.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this! Again, I don't mind, I love M'Aiq, but in Oblivion he was always RUNNING~! like he had 400 points in Athletics and he was on fire. You'd have to get a horse, run past him, stop a good distance away and hope he doesn't take a turn just to click on him and speak with him.

M'aiq says, "M'aiq meant to do that."

Edited for usage.

M'aiq is the Wolverine of TES. The less you know about his backstory, the cooler he is. Elder Scrolls Origins: M'aiq would kill the franchise.

Yeah - I love the Khajit voices, ad M'aiq is one of my favorite characters. I always, always talk to him - hope they add new dialog for him! And a quest or two!

I like M'aiq too, but it creeps me out when he is there for two consecutive "random encounter points". This happens a lot. I'm like, I just walked past you, crazy Khajiit! How did you suddenly appear a quarter mile down the road in the other direction? Oh wait! I know! M'aiq abuses fast traveling.

This happened to me once and the second time I talked to him he told me, "M'aiq can travel fast across the land. Some lazy types take carriages. It is all the same to M'aiq.".

He's ok. I don't like him that much. He annoys me a bit.

He has a cave he lives in. Marked on the map.
