Best Companion For a Mage?

So I've been playing a Mage and I heard it would be a great idea to have companions with you. I'm level 16 and I already went through two companions, Lydia(Falmor got her) and Uthgerd(Frost Sabre Cats got her). What Companions are perfect for a mage? Or what companions cannot die NO MATTER WHAT? Thanks!

I only have a 30 Conjuration and a Flame Atronach. I'm nowhere near being able to use Demora.

I use Lydia. She's hot. I pickpocketed off her default armor and gave her my stormcloak officer armor. Sure, I heal her after every battle, but I don't care. I like to do the killing. She's just my companion. I'm the Dragonborn, not her.
