Whats the best race to play as and why ?

i dont think that is actually possible to choose a best race........ kind of like saying is it better to be english or american. but hey for just looks i go for imperial and if im feeling brutish an orc cheiften WITH A BIG BUSHY BEARD!!

Well, "best" is not exactly an easy thing to specify.
So it depends on what your character is. e.g. An altmer wouldn't do good as a warrior.

I enjoy playing Altmer, for roleplaying reasons. They seem close to the gods, spiritual and mystical. I also enjoy the additional magicka as a cleric.

Generally in game they are weak as hell. Sure they have magic, but what does magic do to resist magic/fire/frost/shock potions?

There is no best race in this game.
Choose what you want for roleplay reasons, do not restrict yourself.

All races have special attributes that make them unique.
There is no "best" race.

It kind of depends on what you want to do in the game, each race has a different specialization. I was over at my friends house today and was watching him play some Skyrim, he is a wood elf and I am a nord. Nords have 50% frost resistance. I was watching him play and a Frost Dragon came and easily killed him with its "ice breath." Me on the other hand, I hope that a frost dragon comes along because they are easy for me to kill due to the frost resistance. If I were you I would just look up the different races abilities and powers.

There is no "best" race.
It all comes down to personal preference.

Nord|Orc|Redguard = Warriors
Bosmer|Khajiit|Argonian = Stealthy Archer or Assassin
Altmer|Breton = Mage
Dunmer|Imperial = Battlemage

Orc, obviously.
