Victor is Dead

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:03 am

So, I took my sweet time getting to Vegas, wandering around and such. When I finally get there, I'm greeted at the strip by a Securitron who has Victors cowboy face, and (I'm assuming) the same dialog options that I would have had with Victor. He tells me to head into the Lucky 38 casino, so I do. On the steps in front of the door is a dead Victor. I go into the casino and the Securitrons inside immediately open fire on me because I haven't spoken to Victor.

MINOR SPOILER ALERT
Looking through a wiki right now, I remember that I had wandered in to Vault 11, and after I had finished killing all of the Robots and turrets in the Martyr Room, my screen flashed with "Quest Failed- The House Always Wins,1"
I remember it because I thought it was very odd that I failed a quest that I did not have, and assumed that Vault 11 was involved in a quest of some sort that I would no longer be able to do. But, The House Always Wins is apparently a series of Main Quest missions. So, either Victor happened to die while I was down there through sheer coincidence, or those two events are somehow connected.

Got word back from on our team on this. This issue is resolved with the title update on Xbox LIVE. With the title update, you'll want to roll back to a save before the Martyr room in Vault 11.

Sweet deal. I don't usually do separate saves, but luckily something about a room of instant death made me reconsider that, so I have a save right before heading in there. Thanks for the quick response.

I am glad this is fixed on the XBox but I am using the PC version of the game and as of a few minutes ago this problem is NOT fixed for me. In addition, all the terminals on the first level of Vault 11 seem to be bugged in that when you use them you hear the sounds of the terminal displaying info but nothing displays and you can't back out.

And what of the people that don't have a save prior to this event? Is their main quest permantly and irrepairably broken requiring them to start over from the beginning or in the very least lose hours of progress?

Also glad your team have acknowledged this problem, but is there a way to fix the bug in PC version? I went into Vault 11 very early, probably tens of hours from my current save..I don't want to roll back to that..

So much time wasted..

Please find a more easy way to fix this..

One completely untested way to get into the Lucky 38 without talking to Victor is this:
At H&H Tool company, which can be found north of the Strip ( go to Freeside North Gate and head west), on the second floor you'll find a Lucky 38 VIP Pass and a Terminal with the option to 'Disable Lucky 38 Security'. One or both of these might let you get in there without being shot.

Or you're alternative is to kill Benny, get the Platinum Chip, fight your way through the Lucky 38, kill Mr. House, then install Yes-Man.

This is happening to me as well. Is there no way to go into the casino and talk to House? That is very frustrating if so. How could such a terrible glitch be in the game???
