Werewolf...

What is the purpose of transforming into a werewolf? They die waaaaay too easy, but it is called "beast-form", does light armor make them more durable? Or is it for lower difficulties to have "fun"?

They have special shouts that make them very useful, especially the first one you start with (fear). I agree that they are pretty weak when it comes to the damage they can take and put out.

Its for lower-level fun. During the first ten or fifthteen levels of the game the beast form can clear ruins with ease. Even silverhand ruins. Given that no skills are used with beastform one could stay at low level for sometime. I did the entire companion questline at level 10 using beastform in each ruin. (the rine of hicrine helps). The thing to remember about the werewolf is its fast you can often dodge around an enemies attacks and deliver massive power attacks to send foes flying.

If you really want long term werewolf fun you need to invest in alteration and alchemy. Using a potion of alteration to prolong a dragonskin spell soo it lasts an entire dungeon for 80% Damage reduction.

Compared to a legendary enchanted weapon with lots of fortify weapon skill yes. But by level forty it 80dmg a swing and they regenerate stanima so quickly you can power attack constantly. They're also damn quick letting you dodge swings. The real weakness is defensively.

Werewolves used to benefit from the Light Armor skill and the Agile Defender perk, but with Patch 1.3 they accidentally removed the base AR of Werewolves, so now they're extremely frail. I drink a Elixir of Regeneration (+100% Health Regen for 300 secs) before i transform into a Werewolf, and it helps a bit. The Fortify Alteration Potion+Dragon Hide helps alot too.

Werewolves can be very powerful (even after 1.3), albeit situationally. When going into a cave/den/fort with living creatures, their fear howl is almost too powerful because you can use it over and over. Their "dual" power attacks send everything flying, so even the most powerful baddie (sans dragons and mammoths) becomes a cakewalk.

They are not as effective against undead due to their lack of defensive capabilities.

Their claw attacks scale with the one-handed skill, and attacks in beast form DO increase one-handed skill. I am playing a wolf-themed character right now, level 30, and bandit forts/camps are a joke. It's easy to traverse the world of Skyrim as a werewolf because they are stupid fast. The Ring of Hircine makes werewolves much more fun.

In short, they can be be capable of major offensive output, but they are weak on defense...accidentally. Bethesda will probably not fix this....for whatever reason.

And.. if you're buddybuddy with Aela from the Companions you can eventually do 3 quests for her called "Totems of Hircine". There's 3 totems and each gives you a special bonus for a limited time:

I myself like the 2 Wolf summons.. but they seem like they would die sooo easily.. lol.

It also takes practice to use werewolf, its attacks are very fast and deadly esp 2handed. Very weak to magic attacks. But if you kill quick and feed.... awesome hilarious bloody good time.

I, too, was struck by how comparatively weak werewolves are - the Companions talk about the prowess it gives them, but they are all more formidable in human form with arms and armor - as will be your character. Moreover, there is only one scripted sequence in the game where a Companion assumes beast form for combat.

The only thing beastform is good for is covering lots of ground when you don't want to fast travel.

Actually, being a werewolf is quite deadly. I am glitched and can stay as a Werewolf for as long as I wish so I decided to stay as one forever and go around the game world. It is harder but once you learn on what to do then your werewolf form is very deadly.

Actually no, at times if you transform with a one handed weapon equipped you'll still get xp as if you were still using it. Even though its unequipped. The attacks scale with level.

And he insta-kills everything around him in ONE hit. So realistic I'll tell ya what.. lol.

Does anybody ever think about the fact that a Werewolf's Claws can knock down almost any person easily? All you need to do is knock them down and keep attacking them then when they begin to get up, knock them down again and just redo it. They will never touch you!

If it is 2+ enemies, you gotta learn a few tricks to safely do this without getting harm. It's hard to do but practice does make perfect.

I think this is something that people keep overlooking, that and the fact that people seem to assume werewolves are just going to destroy everything in front of them.

Yeah, if you run into a buncha guards with your claws swinging at everything, you're going to get killed and perhaps re-killed. Werewolves are associated with Hircine's hunt, and any hunter that just bursts into the brush/forest like I'M GOING TO MURDER EVERYTHING AT ONCE is not gonna have a fine time of it. Werewolves aren't so overpowered as people tend to think, but if you're quick on your feet and smart about it, you can still get a lot out of being a werewolf. Maybe not dive into a group of Master Necromancers or everything, but you can still find use for it outside of RP parameters.

Yeh. Also, being a Werewolf allows you to push people off cliffs easier without needing Fus Ro Dah. I've learn many fighting tricks from my current werewolf guy I've mentioned earlier.

Same just about. You don't really learn these things about being a werewolf until you try it out, though, so I can see why some people are just like not into being moonborn at all.

Don't wanna sound mean but basicly people don't like cause they are too lazy to actually learn tactics.

Well saying that strikes me as honest more than anything. I mean, yeah, I see the appeal of just transforming and wreaking havoc on everything in sight but at the same time, that gets kinda old. I actually like having to be clever and quick-thinking about it, it makes the aspect of the hunt more realistic and appealing.

Yeh. Unlike in the past TES games where you can pretty much slaughter everybody as a werewolf.

Ring of Hircine makes it a lot more fun....just wish there was a way/mod to be able to keep it equipped, instead of constantly having to re-equip the ring and power.

This is completely unrelated to everything but I read all of your posts in Charlie Day's voice.
