NPC gave me a sword : V

So way back when i first entered Riverwood ( That first town you head to) a NPC gave me a sword and told me not to lose it or sell it, anyone know what that is about?

Nope. But being a stubborn person and not easily bossed around (both in Skyrim and RL) I'd sell it haha

I had a similar event, where a guy gave me a helmet, told me not to lose it, and that he'd be back later. I waited a couple of hours. He didn't come back, and no one else came after him either. So I still have it haha.

No one has came up to me claiming that the sword was his, I wasn't sure that the sword was needed for something later so I still have it.

Yep i also had someone who gave me a sword, but then a Hunter told me it is stolen. The Hunter killed him then....

Yeah a hunter will come up chasing them. Or alternatively, get stuck on a cliff or killed or whatever en route.

If you've wandered out of the area, you're safe selling it, even if the dude wanders up, you don't get anything for keeping it, just pocket change gold.

That same thief once ran up to me while i was fighting a dragon. The dialogue screen popped up just when the dragon started to breath fire and i got roasted. :flamethrower:

He told me he'd kill me if I told anyone, so I gave the sword to the hunter and nothing happened. Anticlimactic =/

Yep. I bought what they were selling just so I could see what would happen. Nothing major but it tipped me off to a cool ruin.

Yes, I think it is, but I haven't used it at all seeing as it's heavy armour and my character only uses light armour unfortunately! I might just sell it, actually.
