Finished game as Conjurer: Is this the easiest build?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:26 pm

I had difficulty on default with my sneaky archering conjurer. Loved the game but wondered if I hadn't simplyade the easiest build. Characters I couldn't bow snipe I just watched get torn to bits by my Dremora Lord.

I tried H2H once and was amazed at how tough it was to stay centered on them.

Being a conjurer was pretty rad. Hands still not dirty - similar exp's?

Dremora Lords can easily die by some enimies such as Volkarian Vampires and Ancient Dragons.Assasin/Thief is the most overpowerd build soo far.

The Conjurer build is quite fun. I also like Illusionist builds. But the most powerful is Stealth, especially with the right gear.

I also rolled a conjuration/sneak hyrbid and it was really fun, kinda easy on master, still died when I did something stupid. Been having a really hard time with a Ranger type, 2handed/light armor/alchemy/archery (w/ only overdraw perks)

Working on better armor now!

If they die then summon them again :)
recently i had this dungeon where oddly almost every creature in the dungeon was alerted to my presence at the start. The dremora lords just went into the rooms and slaughtered each one of them >.>
They can't open gates though LOL

You do understand you just cast some more? I have chipped quite hard enemies to death with continual casts of a Fire Atronach. When you can toss in two Dremora Lords even the toughest only need a few. casts.

I play a stealth archer, conjurer, illusionist on expert. Level 52 without dying right now, and I'm not bragging or lying it really is that easy.

The one thing I can say though, is that if melee was easier or less risky it would kind of kill the point of it. The combination of skills is designed to kill things from safe range, you use quite a few abilities at early levels, you have to take things slowly and carefully. If rushing in with a big sword worked equally well it'd be disappointing.

Part of the success of the build is due to being able to take enemies one at a time, and with illusion you have complete control over a single enemy.

Not an excuse for the lack of challenge or some of the overpowered abilities/perks entirely, but using the best tools for the job of killing things without dying, you probably should have better success than someone using a less cautious play style.

Once you can just spam summons at things though, and you can calm any enemy but dragons, yeah it's actually less involved than a melee build. I still use just archery for a lot of enemies due to that, and Dremora Lords for killing stuff I don't feel like bothering with myself.

Pet & CC classes always have it easier than straight up damage ones, so yes, a sneaky conjurer with some crowd control or ability to avoid getting hit until the summons do the job will be easy

My current char is a sword and shield, heavy armor type. No ranged options at all aside from shouts. Playing on Expert. Starting out, it was sloooow. Block, bash, powerattack, block, always move to face the enemy, etc.

I'm now level 44, and I kill most things in two, three hits (more for bosses/dragons, obviously), and I rarely need to block

EDIT: Forgot to mention the most important thing! It doesn't matter if the "class" is the hardest/easiest. What matters is that you enjoy playing it :)

Conjuration is good, but arguably the most overpowered spec is Sneak+Archery. Yeah, it's a bit rough at low levels since Sneak is pretty crappy without certain high-skill perks, but once you get them you've essentially achieved god-mode unless you royally screw up. Random dragon encounters can be a bit of a hassle too, since they start in the 'Alert' status and cannot be sneak-shot unless they get distracted (and not always then, either), however the ones guarding word walls can be ambushed and readily disposed of.

Dremora Lords feel more like a necessity on Master, as the atronachs even with potency become horrible later on as the enemies gain levels
