upgrades breezehome brill

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:30 pm

Hi guys,

I've bought Breezehome from the steward of the first Jarl of Whiterun and bought one upgrade from him. Because I didn't have the money to buy more upgrades, I waited and did some quests while doing so. After I had taken over Whiterun with the Stormcloaks, I decided to buy some more upgrades for my house. Because I couldn't find the steward, I looked it up on the Internet and found out that I needed to talk to Brill. After some searching, I found him in the building of the Companions, together with the new Jarl. I had to talk to the new Jarl to become the Thane of Whiterun again and het said I could buy a house in Whiterun. I already had the house so I went to Brill to buy me the other upgrades. But the option is not available. I can only choose two options. But isn't it strange that the new Jarl and his steward never go to the throne room? They just keep sitting on the same chairs in the Companion building.
Can someone help me with this problem?

Thats right. Proventuis Arritius or what his name his, he can be find in the Blue Palace in Sollitude. He, Jarl Balgraaf and a bunch of other imperials can be found (i believe) in the basemant of the Blue Palace, but they are certain in the Blue Palace.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Proventus_Avenicci will indeed be there, but has no further business connection to Whiterun. As for http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Brill, it looks like not only do you have to be thane to Vignar, but it may depend on the outcome of the main quest as to where he is and what he can sell.

It seems like the game has a lot of bugs. This is the second bug already I've encounterd since the beginning and from what I saw on the Internet a lot of people have the same problems with bugs.

If it is a bug, what do I have to do to fix this? Or do I have to wait until the next update and hope it will be fixed?

Wouldn't hold your breath. You may have to buy the house again to unlock improvements.

I got it fixed. I joined the Companions and suddenly Vignar and Brill were not in their chairs anymore. I later found Brill in the throne room and I was able to buy the upgrades.

Glad you got it squared away. I had assumed you were already a Companion, since you were in Jorrvaskr.
