Bard Build

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:07 am

Already thinking about what I will roleplay on my next playthrough, and am considering a bard. But I'm not sure exactly how to make him.

What I do know is that he will perk one-handed, restoration (the ward will be his shield), speech, and possibly pickpocket. But I don't know if I should go alteration + cloth, or light armor + something else, such as destruction for runes, cloaks, and ranged attacks, or illusion. Illusion is possibly 'bardier' (music has the power to calm, frenzy and fear :P), but it's such an overpowered school that I'd rather stay away if I could.

Any ideas?

Give him a massive axe and have him make heavy use of Dragon Shouts :mohawk:

Illusion would make a lot of sense for a Bard because of the Rally, fear, fury, calm, etc type of spells.

Personally I would go unarmoured for rp reasons, and just keep the speed.
Why worry about illusion being too powerful? Surely spells that affect people's behaviour should be the strongest weapon in a Bard's arsenal.

Don't forget to join the bards college, and maybe get a hireling to do the fighting for you, plus he/she can be your glamorous assistant during your act

I wish they would add music in a way that would fit in with the game. I'd love to play as a wandering bard, but without being able to even equip an instrument, it seems pointless.

Hmm, too many skills to perk atm:
  • one-handed
  • alteration (wears enchanted clothing)
  • restoration
  • illusion (needs to take priority otherwise it becomes useless)
  • enchanting
  • speech
  • and possibly pickpocket
Not really doing it for me :/.

As for instruments being useless, bards are not only musicians. They are also storytellers, poets, and thespians.
