Gloombound Mine. It's near the Orc Stronghold of Narzulbur, which is southeast of Windhelm.

Blackreach. There is a lot of ebony down there. It is under Alftand. I think the only way to get down there is get an attunement sphere from Septimus Signus. You can get it by doing the Elder Knowledge quest - part of the main quest. Or just by going straight to Septimus and kicking off the Discerning the Transmundane quest. You can do that without having to do the main quest.

but, isn't asking where to mine for the ore cheating? lol.

however, when i play a character that uses smithing i also add the rule that they can only use what they mine themselves.

I recently came across a mine just South of where you ambush a wagon near Riften on the Imperial Legion questline; Shor's Stone. Once I cleared the mine of frostbite spiders, there were a several Ebony Ore seams. The miners might talk about iron, but I only got Ebony ore from it.

This is the mine I've been using, there's plenty of ebony inside.

Theres a ton of ebony in there just dont walk around holding a torch as you will ignite the flammable vapour and liquid. If an orc is standing anywhere near it will ignite him to and he will take it as an attack then the whole mine will have at you with pickaxes lol.

I dont see how asking where to find ore is a form of cheating I just pretend I’m asking some one from within Skyrim.

Sounds logical to me.

i thought i made it clear i wasn't ridiculing you for your personal 'rules.' i've had many different rping rules for my characters.

however, with my personal in-game rules, i would find it quite contradictory to say i will not exploit smithing, only smith what i mine myself and then ask for those very mining locations online.

for me, that would be cheating on those particular personal rules. at the same time, i've made smithing rules where asking for ore locations online wouldn't be considered cheating.

Picture an enormous grocery store that was 10 acres wide by 20 acres long. This grocery store has no signs on any isles telling you what's there. In addition, similar items aren't in the same places. For example, hotdog buns wouldn't be with the other breads. Instead, the wheat ones would be by the ice cream and the white ones would be by the gefilte fish which would be next to tinfoil. Would you ask someone at the front where the hotdog buns you want arre or would you just wander around for a week trying to find them on your own?

And finally, if you'd rp'd one character who knew where the mine was, then wouldn't the next character know anyway?

If you dont mind cheating you can use the platter glitch to take the lifts down straight from the outside world.

Not so clear, no. However, it is becoming clear why "imseeingred" is your ID.

Your grocery store has signs and aisles? Now that's cheating.

Edit:
Your question has been answered: Gloombound. Don't get too excited as you mine it because it takes 2 ores to make 1 ingot. You'll still have more than enough for a full set of Ebony or Daedric Armor plus weapon and shield or 2 weapons, but you won't end up with 40 ingots. :P Also, the mine will respawn if you avoid the cell for like 3 ingame weeks.

ebony ore and even daedra hearts are quiet abundant once you know where to look. the only truly limited items in the game are non respawning goodies like small/large pearls and of course unique/quest items.

Great way to say it. Ya I could mindlessly wander skyrim for days in hopes of finding some ebony some where and maybe I might find a little if im lucky but I rather just ask some one who as already found good mining locations much easier.
