So are good looking dunmer out of the question now?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:23 pm

So we're all aware of the loading screen that comes up from time to time around the College of Winterhold featuring the very pretty mage, staff ready, hair mid-flick. She is clearly a dunmer, and yet she does not have the mangled brow that all dunmer found in game have. Is this achievable in the vanilla character creator or is it from an early build of the game before the ugly brow was implemented and thus unattainable by us lowly console gamers? Anyone know?

Matters on your ideals of beauty. it's very possible, if I was at home I'd give you a link to a few articles that go on about how to make good looking characters. For mer the best thing to do is focus on their human looks and reduce the mer aspects that often make them look alien.

Take your time, and you'll be rewarded.

That is NOT a Dunmer. Clearly that is a Breton. The sharp features make that a dead giveaway.

Well I suppose it is POSSIBLE to make a dunmer nearly caucasian-looking, but it would be extremely odd looking.
Breton females are the most attractive race in the game IMO, so I understand the OP's want to make an attractive character that is showcased in the loading screen

A pretty Breton? Impossible with those horrible unremovable wrinkles on the forehead. WTB better textures.

Yeah they pretty much are.

I have to say the new character creator was a bit of a let down.

Dunmer are nearly always blue or some colour like that. I hate that you have to choose from skintones, in Oblivion you could just set the bar wherever you wanted and have a purple or green Dunmer, now you can have them in varying levels of black or blue. Wow.

No way is she a breton. Really? Could have sworn she had greyish skin.

If the loading screen mage is breton as you say then there is probably no hope for dunmer (at least without mods). Good to know.

Everyone was moaning about how Dunmer all looked like [censored]s and demanded that they be gritty and harsh looking. Everyone liked it at first, but now since they can't fulfill their Na'vi blue-skin fetish for a sixy blue skinned six-goddess they are disappointed.
I am personally more irritated at them all having chins pointier than Reese Witherspoon (although she makes it look good)

EDIT: @ LdyVajedi, the elves of DAII all have a forehead directly connected to the bridge in one deliberate and obtuse angle. Plus they are all scrawnier than a prepubascent girl. I like that they aren't just short humans with logn pointy ears, but did Bioware have to make them so ugly? So as you can see from my edit, Bioware's elves surpass Bethesda's in ugly. I like how Bethesda's elves look. They look as you would think.

True. I just don't like the generic elf models look like. To me the elves in DA2 are ugly as well.

By "DA2 Elves" I suppose you mean the Extraterrestials?

I haven't seen this loading screen. Would someone mind to post a link?

The character editor is disappointing. Every race has a "basic facial" structure that you can't change.
Every Nord without a beard looks the same.

All the elves look so angry in the game. I always make a dunmer character first, but I was not totally happy with her looks, although she looked okay, just kind of worn, even though technically she was young. I just added a couple cosmetic mods, so am going to re-roll a dunmer (also, now that the magic resistance is sorted, the other reason I stopped playing the original dunmer. )

Cosmetic mods are a blessing. They did good work on the Altmers.
