Follower Bows Question

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:29 am

Since Followers that start out with a default bow will not use a better bow, which followers start out without a bow?

Also I would assume that any follower that starts out without a bow would have no skill with a bow so is it worth it?

For instance a level 50 Aela the Huntress with 100 bow skill using daedric arrows and her default bow VS a follower with no bow skill and an enchanted daedric bow with daedric arrows.

Thoughts?

read that whole thing. It works. I've had to redo it a few times, but it's a good workaround.

Unfortunately I use the 360 so I cannot use console commands. I have tried everything else. The bow doesn't even show in her inventory anymore, she just takes it out.

So back to the original question. What followers avoid this glitch and are any of them any good?

Some followers start with a bow, that "dratted" default bow, but don't dismiss it. Give, or if you can't give (i.e., they are an assigned follower) shoot them with the arrow of choice. They will use that from there on. Great way to generate extra quality arrows.

Yes, The followers that start with a default bow will shoot an unending supply of whatever arrow you supply them with. the question is what followers do not start with a default bow and are any of them any good?

It rly doesn't matter what bow they use. What matter is their ammo.

Give your followers some Fire Arrows and you will have a blast! (Fire Arrows are gained via a Quest in Windhelm. Look it up.)

Actually... ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MNgh4-ylxw&context=C48772eaADvjVQa1PpcFPzbQn3TavMGliT8zx0hMEIoo9-VBkUsdY= ) That video should be me explaining about it and how it all works.

Sure. That looks cool but doesn't do much damage.

Did you see how far that Guard flew? It can deal a lot of 'fall damage'.

I admit it really looks cool and I will probably try it out for fun. But it isn't practical for use in dungeons and the like. (wonder how it looks against dragons though).

I am still wondering about my original question. Which followers do not have default bows. I cannot find the info on the wiki

I think all followers will gain a default bow eventually.

As for the arrows, they are funnier inside. They aren't good against dragons, mammoths, Dwarven Spheres, Dwarven Centurions, and anything else that is normally immune to Fus Ro Dah.

Ok so I shot Jenassa with a couple fire arrows and when she found her way back to me she did start using them. there were some humorous consequences when we ran into a giant and she blasted him twenty feet into the air.

Cicero does not have a default bow, and his Archery caps at 97 at level 50. I'm not sure if his AI will use the bow very often however.
