Exploding Invisible Arrow

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 4:22 am

I don't know if this is some kind of easter egg or perhaps a weapon that was originally going to be included in Skyrim, but it seems you can use console command "player.equipitem 961d6 1" to add some sort of invisible arrow that makes a huge explosion.

It probably the ones that they use for the level-triggered bows that are placed around dweller ruins. I don't know what they are called, but if you pull the lever it shoots the arrows and they explode. They might me invisible because they are not ment to be used by the player I think.

They're from the quest "Rise in the East". Those explosions that happen are caused by those arrows. Actually, since sometimes arrows you're stuck with go into your inventory, you can pick them up during that quest by getting hit by those explosions. To use them you have to not have any other arrows in your inventory and equip your bow, and they'll autoequip. If you're on a console, anyway. On a PC, like OP said, just use the console.

I've gotta try this ASAP. Imagine the carnage if you give one to an archery follower?!

The ballista projectiles impale enemies though; I don't recall seeing any explosions from those in-game.

The ballistae arrows in the dungeon where you find (auughhh.... I can't remember his name..... gah, he's for some quest or the other, mincy-prancy sillyboy in upper class clothes.... AH! Thank you uesp wiki - Alain Dufont....) cause explosions I think. Been a while since I was in there....

There are also some ballista arrows (technically bolts since they're on a crossbow) right outside of the Alftand Cathedral entrance to Blackreach. You can use them to kill the Dwarven Sphere right outside of Sinderion's house.

Why are there bolts in Skyrim? There is no crossbow! Hmm... Crossbow in expansion?

Ballistae ARE crossbows - just not the sort you carry around.

That's true.... but the ones in this game aren't actually large enough to qualify. I think they're a "mid-size" version or something: you can't carry them, but they do a sufficiency of damage from a stationary position. They're not big enough to blast through an armored wall, but a few mobs.... yeah, they can do those.

True. I however don't use archery in any game other than WoW - I just really dislike the entire thing.

I'll use Bound Bow. That about it.

And I want a Crossbow. I love crossbows a lot. Used one in Daggerfall and Morrowind. I also used one in RuneScape all the time.

I'm thinking of grinding Conjuration so I can get bound bow on my assassin character. Right now I'm using a Superior (I think) glass bow with a fire damage enchantment :l

Bound Bows damage can go up to 95 with perks so it is worth getting.

Well, ballistae are both crossbows and siege engines, so there you go.
