Leveling up skills

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:38 am

Does making more complex/higher level items or enchantments level up skills more?

For example, will making 3 iron daggers level up blacksmith more than making just 1 orkish dagger?

Thank you.

I know for sure that opening up a higher level lock will level you up much faster, or casting a higher level spell. But for crafting I don't think so.

nope you get a set amount of experience for smithing any object, upgrading any object, enchanting any object, disenchanting any object, making any potion and eating any ingredient

For example purposes only, this does not reflect the true skill gains but for arguments sake:

Smithing new item = 50xp
Upgrading item = 10xp

Enchanting new item = 50xp
disenchanting item = 40xp

Making potion = 50xp
eating ingredient= 5xp

something alone those lines though as i stated its not accurate in the slightest, its just to show roughly how it works as my understanding has it

As far as I know, enchanting and smithing are static gains but alchemy gains are what the value of the potion is.

Supposedly crafting iron daggers is supposed to be the most economically efficient way to level up smithing, or even hide boots or something to avoid even having to have ore. Just grab a crapload of leather from hunting and make a bunch of leather boots.

Exactly. Lesser soul gems and iron daggers = key to smithing and enchanting levelling.
