Need Help Reaching Armor Cap with my Vigilant of Stendarr Bu

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:13 am

Hi,

i need the help from smithing/enchanting/alchemist experts :).

my character is wearing Steel Boots and Gauntlets with robes and hoods. Is it possible to get to 80 % physical restistance with this setup?

I will use Ebonyflesh for additional 100 armor and lord stone for another 50 armor. If i understand the appromixmate formual correctly i will need about 470 armor from steel boots and gauntlets. Is this possible with enhanced boots, fortify heavy armor gear and levels of juggernaut?

I really like the look of heavy boots and gauntlets with short robes and hood/necklace.

Thanks

I can try to make that combo right quick and see what I get. All robes/hoods count as "clothing", right? You're not talking about like a Shrouded Cowl, right?

Edited to remove quote. :P

You won't get there without spending points on LA or HA perks. That is unless you do the fortify restoration glitch/exploit.

80% Damage Reduction can be achieved by any skilled Alterationist, if your character is a member of the COW, a level one character could achieve a high enough skill in Alteration (90) to get the Ritual Quest to learn the Dragonhide Spell. This is an option that may be more viable to a character who already has enough Magicka to cast Ebonyflesh.

OK, I was able to improve the gauntlets and boots to 75 with a +120% Fortify Smithing potion and 4 pieces of +25% Fortify Smithing gear. I was able to improve them to 80 with a +135% Fortify Smithing potion and the 4 pieces of gear.

IDK how to calculate the effect of your Heavy Armor skill being at 100, but if I understand Juggernaut correctly the 75 should go to 150 with 5 perk points.

With Ebonyflesh and the Lord Stone that should put you at at least 450. You might have to carry a shield to bump it up a bit or use the Fortify Restoration glitch.

I also do not know if Fortify Heavy Armor will boost your skill past 100.

With my Alchemy skill at 100 and all the beneficial perks and wearing 4 pieces of +25% Fortify Alchemy gear I can make the +120% Fortify Smithing potions (the highest I've ever found are +50%...I think...maybe +40%). I made the +135% just for the hell of it while wearing two headpieces.

My Smithing skill is 100 with all the Heavy side perks.

...youre the armour expert...
Aw, shucks, Ma'am, thanks.

...but to clarify: I'm the $lutty, leather-based armour expert. Luv' ya!

Wow, thank you. Well it would be really interesting to know if you could go beyond 100 heavy armor skill with fortify heavy armor. If it works getting to 460 could be really possible.

I still have a long way to go though...

@bradleyh: hmm casting dragonhide is a good idea. How long does it take to cast? Right now i cast stoneskin at the moment the fight starts...if it takes forever to cast it's not really an option

Actually, I could test the Light Armor 'side' with a potion and an Enchant...I'm sure the same rules apply to Heavy Armor.

Edit:
OK, both the potion and the enchants raised my Light Armor Skill to over 100 so it should be possible with comparable Heavy Armor potions/enchants.

Dragonhide takes a while to cast, but the dual cast version lasts 99 seconds, if you have the dual casting Perk and hold both buttons at the same time.
I hate having to take damage when ambushed or midway into a battle while trying to cast a higher level spell, too.

Since there is no "bound Armor" spells I have smithed the heck out of a piece of elven armor and throw it on like it was "conjured" for some builds.

Not sure if that would be considered appropriate for a Vigalant though. :)

Vigilants of Stendar exist to fight Daedra.

most only wear clothes and that is why i am able to loot their corpses.

armor in a fight with a flame atronoch etc. improves you chance of survival.
