Watching others playing Skyrim

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:33 pm

Does anyone else enjoy watching others play Skyrim on YouTube? I myself enjoy following the adventures of http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3D57F564F4345BDA&feature=plcp little lady. She's quite amusing to watch and has tons of character when playing. I think she deserves more subscribers. Any other YouTube players worth watching?

There was a sort of blog on pcgamer.com that had a player playing the game in the role of an NPC, something he'd done previously with Oblivion: http://www.pcgamer.com/author/clivingston/

Unfortunately it ends kind of early, but I really liked the idea. I think the appeal for me is seeing a personal narrative come out of the game. I think Dwarf Fortress encourages that sort of thing too, probably Minecraft and other games like that. Where basically it becomes less about fixed setpieces but your own plot unfolding due to a combination of randomness and your own interaction with the game world.

I like to keep up with this series. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAAC19D80CD7286B3&feature=plcp

If you're interested, I suggest starting with episode 8 when the youtuber (Force) switches to a Kajiit thief/assassin character. He's a very entertaining commentator and his love of gaming is really infectious. He's sometimes a little too impatient with scripted dialog though and is always eager to get to the action.

Thanks for the comments, especially since I screwed up on the forum I wanted to put it in. Had a LOT on my mind recently. Anyways, it might have been kinda the right forum after all, 'cause I've been wondering how the hell you record your sessions like she and many other people do on YouTube? What kind of equipment do you need? Looks expensive.

If you're playing on PC all you need is some type of capture software such as http://www.fraps.com/or http://www.xsplit.com/.

If you're on a console you'll need an HD capture card which will cost ~$100

Thanks! I didn't even know you could do it on consoles! But yep, seeing the extensive modding I'm hoping to be doing on the new PC version I've got coming it'll only be worth doing on PC. What, are the PC mods Freeware then? Looks like it from those sites, 'cause I can't see any prices.

What about recording your voice and embedding it into the clip?
