Curing Lycanthropy after becoming Harbinger?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:51 pm

So, I am the harbinger. The only quests I can still get are the minor quests when I am "looking for work". The thing is, I don't want to be a werewolf anymore. I already completed the quest where you free Kodlak's spirit and I didn't cure myself then. I tried going back to the place after and placing a witches head, but it wouldn't let me do anything. I would try and interact with the platform and nothing happened.
Am I unable to cure my werewolf-ism? Honestly, I wan't to be able to sleep again. Is it a glitch that I can't put the witches head on the thing afterwards?
After a lot of google searches, I hear that you can talk to varkas and some other people and see if they wan't to be cured and then you are able to get cured, but none of the people have that dialouge. Should I keep completing these minor quests until that dialouge shows up? Or does this dialouge not exist?
I am playing on a pc, if that matters. Thanks.

Post 1.5 patch, you have to do random quests for Falkas till you get the purity quest from him. After you cure him, then you should talk to Vilkas till you get his purity quest. Only after they are both cured, you can cure yourself.

I know there was a glitch that if you killed all the witches when Kodlak asks you to, you wouldn't get the request from Vargas. If you only kill the one you should get Vargas asking you to take him to the witches cave to kill a witch and then go on to cure him, same applies to Vilkas.

Thank you Ji! That was just what I needed to hear. I wasn't sure if the random quests would go on for infinity and I would never get the option.

I've wondered about this myself. So do I understand this correctly? After curing Kodlak, Farkas, and Vilkas, I can just go to Ysgrammor's Tomb with a witch head and cure myself at any time, right?

Think so. But if you don't finish the Totem of Hircine quests before this, you won't be able to afterwards.

Not that they'll be any good to you, but think of Aela.

Already done that (on the one character anyway - and will on my other one first also) so that's no problem. :P I'm not gonna' mess her $*** up - that's her choice so I'll finish those for her always.

If the main reason you want to be cured is for the sleeping bonus then this mod will allow you to get the bonus while still being a werewolf. If you just don't want to be a wolf at all then just continue doing the quests until the purity one opens.

I mainly don't want to be a Daedric Prince's plaything. :P

So, as long as "Purity" has been offered I can cure myself at anytime? Is there a cut-off after which it's too late?

I just ran through this again on my latest character, and I was surprised at how quickly the Purity quests popped up after curing Kodlak. I mean, probably the second quest from Farkas was to cure him. After leaving him to commune with the dead folk, I returned and spoke to Vilkas about work, and guess what? Right back to the tomb. As soon as he was cured, I tossed another head in the fire and cured myself. What's odd is that I think I still have 3 witches heads left.

The witch heads didn't get used up for me either. I just store them in the trunk in Kodlak's room. I also put one in Aela's just in case she ever changes her mind.

Me neither. The only one I 'lost' was the the one I set outside of Breezehome hoping to keep Braith away from my house, but it despawned...or the demon child ate it.

Sweet. I'm gonna' do that, too.

I must have done like 50 radiant quests already. It's getting rediculous. I just recently got all 3 totems for Aela, and I am have done 3 more random quests after that. No purity quest yet. I don't have any totems in my inventory... do I need to go get some more before the option pops up?

Actually nevermind that, I JUST got the purtiy quest for farkas. I guess I need to keep doing them because I wasn't able to purify myself then.
