What's Up?
I am in the middle of the quest "Elder Knowledge" and am supposed to be helped
by the Orc in the Archane University's Library.
What I read is that I should have an option to ask him about The Elder Scroll and he gives me three books. Now, I do not have the option to ask him about the scroll. I believe it is because I have already completed Septimus' quest, so the Orc in the library cannot send me his way (because he is dead)
Can I still obtain the Elder Scroll in any way?
I have tried getting back to Black Reach and to the tower of Mzark (sp?) but cannot find my way through Alftland or another Dwemer ruin (forget the name, but it is a long word beginning with the letter R) which is the way I had originally been in The underground Blackreach (I've been there twice)
When I go to these locations, the puzzles are not there to be solved again. The one puzzle was giving power to the button by unjamming the Dwemer cogs and pipes by taking crap out of them and allowing them to spin and give power to the button to lower the bridge. The button does not have power, the cogs aren't spinning, yet there is nothing to take out of them.
Anyway, I want to check and see if the Scroll is just where it would be IFF Septimus were alive. It should be in the Tower of Mzark under in Blackreach.
Anyone know a fix, or have details on how to enter Blackreach without quest markers?

when you went to blackreach to transcribe the lexicon for septimus, did you not pick up the elder scroll?

if you have the attunement spere, you can enter blackreach through http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Alftand, http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Mzinchaleft, or http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Raldbthar.

I still have the two items Septimus gave me to get in there. I have a ruined Lexicon and another item (I can't think of what it is right now)
When I returned to Septimus, he was killed.
This was a quest I did independently of "Elder Knowledge"
Are You suggesting, in the quest I did for Septimus outside of the main quest, I could have grabbed an elder scroll?
It is possible I forget grabbing it, or I just forgot to grab it all together. I don't know, I am so confused.
All I know is that this Orc in the library isn't saying anything about the gd elder scroll.

Ok, I do have that item.
I was just running around in 2/3 places you named above like an idiot for over an hour each. I just get cut off in both dungeons and can't continue fwd. Maybe I am missing something, but I dunno, I was checking EVERYWHERE.
As I said in my OP, the one puzzle in the bottom of Raldbthar just isn't there.

Have you checked your inventory for the scroll? When you did the lexicon bit (where you had to push all those blue buttons on stands), an egg-shaped container would have been lowered from the ceiling and opened to reveal the elder scroll. you probably missed it if you werent on the main quest, and it'll still be sitting there.

Wiki says there is a bug in raldbthar that wont allow you to reenter. You should be able to enter through Alftand, thats the ruin you usually use in septimus' quest. its a super long ruin though.

You were absolutely correct, I hadn't grabbed the Scroll.
I made my way back through Mzinchaleft, refound the Tower of Mzark and grabbed the Scroll.
