Patch 1.3... So why is Season STILL BLOODY UNENDING!

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:07 pm

I don't know why I continue to play this game if they won't patch this damned quest. Because of it I'm just basically wasting time because it's like a book that has the back half ripped away.

I WANT TO CONTINUE PLAYING FFS.

Either make the console available on Xbox 360 or give us a workaround. I refuse to restart the game if the bug isn't fixed because it will probably happen again.

I was enjoying the game but I'm pretty much hitting a brick wall now. All I get when I talk to Ulfric is "Galmor told you to do something" yet Galmor says "I can't believe you got Ulfric to the peace table" or some such nonsense... and it is nonsense BECAUSE ULFRIC WON'T TALK TO ME.

I think you got the meme wrong Bethesda... It should have been "I used to be a warrior until I shot myself with an arrow in the FOOT!"

EDIT: Fixed - Was an unfinished quest that had vanished from my active list.

Restarting the game actually would solve it... your problem is that you undertook the wrong quest at the wrong time and suffered a bug due to a small conflict between them. So long as you load a save prior to convincing Ulfric and go do the quest for Galmar you'll be fine.

Unfortunately, quest bugs are not Bethesda's priority, right now they're fixing engine issues as those can completely wreck someone's game far more easily. Admittedly, they're fixing them quite slowly over rather a lot of patches. Though tbf these patches have been within the first few months. For Oblivion I had to wait a lot longer for patches, and that was far less stable (at least for me).

If you have an earlier save, load it, otherwise :I

I've said this countless times to countless people.

Once your quest is bugged, give up and call it a day.

This; once you begin the civvy questline, Season Unending is pretty much undoable

Hold on... this game is about quests... and they are NOT a priority?

*chucks game disk in bug bin*

I thought this was Eldar Scrolls... Not Frontier: Elite II.

You say a save prior to convincing Ulfric... I haven't TALKED to Ulfric because he WON'T TALK TO ME. That's the problem. He just refuses to talk to me.

Bethesda know there is a problem... and they know that using the console you can fix it. So why didn't they enable the console on the... consoles?

To say that I am peed off atm is an understatement. I'm not going to restart the game from scratch again, that's for sure... If the bugs were fixed, then yeah. But at the moment I'm really annoyed at Bethesda. I'm just fed up to the back teeth of games these days being released in beta quality... Although in this case I would say that this game is in Alpha what with the sheer number of glitches and bugs ruining the game. Not fixing a game breaking glitch or giving us the option to restart quests (because of said glitches) is beyond stupid on Beths part. I didn't experience anything like the number of bugs/glitches in F3/FNV. At least they were playable.

So until the bugs are fixed this game is going in the Bug Bin... I'm really thinking about refusing to pre-order stuff anymore. Most software is being pushed out the door WAYYYYYY too soon. I've done my stint as a beta tester... I don't want to PAY to be a beta tester ffs.

God, I'm depressed.

Patches won't solve bugs or bugged items once they've been encountered by the player. The state of this items/NPCs/what else will be saved in the save game and it will stay that way for the rest of the game. Patches affect the executable and the master data files only.

The only solution is to start your game over or to load an early save.

That's why I finished the Civil War quests first before the Main Quest so that I won't have any problems getting this quest "Season Unending".

Don't give up on the game. I would say start again. A totally different character, you will get a different experience. Or increase the difficulty (if you're not already playing on a high one), for me, jumping from Adept to Expert made a big difference.
Sure, I understand you, it's a gamebraking bug, but don't deny yourself the experience of Skyrim. Putting aside all the bugs and whatnot, it is an amazing and beautiful game.
We shouldn't allow a bug in a game (that is for enjoyment and relaxation) stress us, we have enough stress in real life.

Actually I lost my temper and and turned werewolf... BUT IT WOULDN'T LET ME KILL ULRIC lol.

I was just depressed as I just wanted to continue along the main story a bit... I suffer from SAD (seaonal affected disorder) on top of other things and gaming is just a way to reduce it. I think I had actually played the game too long yesterday (over 12 hours while lying on the sofa). I hadn't thought to check that the patches had fixed the quest problem but when I did it made those 12 hours a waste of time. Just made me think "Why bother?".

The annoying thing is I love the game... Just hate the plethora of bugs. I had a new one last night that drove me nuts... I call it the Hoppity Skip Bug because you run, pause a second, run some more, pause again... repeatedly. When it kicks in though I know now that the Xbox is about to crash or lock up again. Then there is the metal mickey bug where the audio goes all robotic on me. Then there is the teleporting animals (god that was a heart attack of a bug)... I was down in this cave and there was a Sabre Toothed Tiger in a cage. I moved towards to cage and he vanished. Turned around and got his paw across my face. Damned thing had teleported behind me. Saw that bug a lot last night. Then there was the disappearing Follower. I go to get something of them and POOOOF! Gone.... Few seconds later and BAMF! they reappear.

It seems the more I play it the buggier it gets. But the real reason I am so damned peed off is because I REALLY LIKE THE GAME WHEN IT WORKS! I just wished I had bought it on PC though. At least I could hack it so that it worked that way. Perhaps Bethesda could give us a discount on the PC version of the game?

Last I checked the backwards flying dragons ( Encountered by the player, and bugged mind you ) were fixed, thanks to a patch, without having to start a new game. Or am I not getting the jest of what you are saying here?

IF you honestly think this game has more bugs than F 3 or NV, you are in massive denial. I have 4 characters going simultaneously on this game, and never once have I had a questline glitch. Ever. This is what the three autosaves are for, and if you dont have backup saves in a game like this, its your own fault. NV was glitch heaven. There were even areas that if you went to would corrupt your save file, and you wouldnt be able to load it.

I walked into a room and saw a piece of a broken ceramic pot just hovering in the air in front of me. It was absolutely fascinating. I stood there and just looked at it for about half a minute when it suddenly just dropped and clanked on the floor.

I was just finishing some quest where I had to drink a torpor. For the last minute or two of that quest I kept hearing the distinct sound of myself jumping down off a ledge. I was obviously standing still on the ground, but the noise continued.

I have also experienced the 1st person running bug where if you hit sprint, it moves forward really fast, then slows back down again. I figured out how to solve this: Simply move to 3rd person, crouch, move to 1st person, and uncrouch. Bug fixed.

Well I finally found the fault in my quest line for Season Unending... Just managed to complete it. Turned out I hadn't killed the wisp test from Galmor. Strangely enough the quest had vanished for some reason. Managed to find a save far enough back where the quest was still visible... finished it and then said that I would make my mind up whether to join the Stormcloaks later and then Season Unending worked fine.

Thanks for the suggestions... I went to sleep with them in my mind and woke up with the answer heh. I tend to do that. At least I managed to get past the boring politics part lol. Nearly fell asleep though.

Mmm... might seem strange but if anything that part is actually MEANT to be that way. Just like if you start the civil war quests without having started the main quest, you will NOT be able to give jarl Balgruuf the message. Except that this time he actually SAYS why he won't accept it

Not really Ofnir. When it glitched Galmor kept goin on how I had convinced Ulfric to meet at the peace table with Tullius when I hadn't even spoken with Ulfric at all. Then there was the case that the incomplete quest had vanished from the list completely so I couldn't figure out the problem.

The reason I didn't finish the wisp quest was because while on the way to the island I heard how Ulfric was just out for himself and the Nords. As I am playing a high elf I went "Well frak you, Mr Racist" and forgot about it. It just came to bite me in the ass many hours later.

At least it's fixed for now. It's made me VERY aware of how easy one decision can totally futz the quest lines. I just wished that the game would let me choose what device to save to so that every so often I could save to flash drive. I'm also going to complete my open quests instead of collecting them like an old miser. I had planned to RP that my guy is being affected by his werewolf genes so is slowly going from goody goody to evil biatch.
